Hi all,
I've had a squeaking belt and just a slight smell of coolant, with no visible leaks last two weeks from my TD5 Def... Temp's been fine, coolant was slightly below were it would usually sit (at the moment approx 10mm under the cold mark on the exp-tank).
So basically I have just let it sit there for the last week or so (haven't had the time to go over all the hoses/fittings ...read this quote on another thread,
Hi I'v got a td5 Defender , and had a td5 Disco , One thing you must change is the thin black plastic pipe that runs from your radiator to the expansion bottle . They go hard and brittle at the radiator end . They crack or snap and you well loose your coolant and over heat . It happened to me . I told my mate about it and he checked his , and yes had gone brittle . So do yourself a favor and replace it . You can then try to see how flexible it is . I bet it snaps like a carrot at the radiator end . JimWent to shed to checked mine, gave it a little wiggle and it popped off in my hand, must have had a crack.
Now how do I fix it?... Is there a replacement part for this?...(just the neck not the radiator.)or do i need to tap a thread and screw a custom fab item in its place?
pm'd Jim but no response yet...so just thought i'd post and see if its happened to anyone else and how they fixed.
Any/all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
