I think the Correction Jet on my 2A with Solex Carb has gone missing. I haven't managed to tune it to a point that I'm happy with, this afternoon my brother (who lives on the farm where the car is for now) was having a play with it to see if he would have any better luck. About an hour ago he sent me a picture of the emulsion tube.

After working out that is is an emulsion tube, and what that should do I came across the concept of an Air Correction Jet. From what my brother said and my memory of looking down the throat of the carb there is no jet in place.

TL DR
What would happen if there was no Correction Jet in place?
Where can I buy one?

This carb has a bit of play in the throttle shaft so I know that is going to be causing some of my problems. I've been putting of rebuilding it because all of the kits only have new throttle shafts and I imagine that the alloy(?) housing will have also worn a little. I can make new bushes once Dad gets his lathe set up, but it's not ready yet so I haven't had a go at rebuilding yet.

Thanks,
Rex

Hmmm. Maybe if I looked at the manual properly. The spec for the correction jet on the Solex is a 185 jet if anyone goes looking for this later. I seem to have found a source for Solex parts here: Classic Carbs - Solex Parts (https://classiccarbs.com.au/index.php?_route_=Classic-Carburettors/Solex-Carburettor-Overhaul-Kits-and-Parts/Solex-Carburettor-Parts)

I'll post back once I get the jet and see if that fixes my problem.

Cheers,
Rex

Well the jet arrived from Classic Carbs and I put it in over the weekend. It's like a new car. I just set the mixture to the starting point from the manual - 1.5 turns out. But no popping, farting or other misbehavior when revved.

Having all the parts in their place makes a big difference.[bigwhistle]

Cheers,
