Just notice this comment on Kimberley Kampers promo material:

Kimberley have released the most powerful disc braking ever with Lightweight ventilated disc braking and dynamic Kimberley calipers.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2017/09/193.jpgAs a comparison these are significantly more powerful than the Alko disc system because of a higher controlled hydraulic pressure.

Using Lithium and Superlight solar achieves Weight reduction of: 60kgs -120kgs : easier to tow, longer range

Does anyone know what the source of these hubs is? I dont expect Kimberley Kampers to have developed the manufacturing stream for them.

I have an offroad camper trailer that I wouldn't mind upgrading

thanks.

KK announced some time ago that they were developing such hubs.

I think these are the next generation, as they have had hubs available for probably 12 months.

My dealings with KK is they won't sell you the pets off the shelf for a non KK camper, I tried this the their handbrake for electric over hydraulic brakes.....I needed to provide a VIN number first.

Your best chance...unless they have changed... would be to find somebody with a KK who is happy for you to use their VIN number and try and buy the parts although I reckon you would have to convince them your upgrading therefore you would need the suspension.

KK might have changed the business model you may allow you to purchase stubs hubs and brakes.

Will follow the thread to see how you progress.

Kimberly have been offering this for a while, as do other trailer manufacturers such as Track:

ok, thanks, so it looks like KK have gone it alone and developed them. And not buying in someone else's kit.

Bugger.

looks like a complete solution, otherwise.

I’ve fitted D4 PCD hubs to my Crossover.
Was very easy... [emoji6]

I've had hubs engineered before. Wasn't difficult. Old hub as template, specs of required centre bore and PCD of wheels is about all you need.
A good engineering shop should be able to mill some out of a piece of stock.

Are there any knowledge updates on this thread? I was talking wheel matching with a trailer manufacturer recently and amazingly there still doesn't seem to be a widely available off the shelf option...

Just the Commodore stud pattern you want to ask for. I believe these are easy to source.

That seems like a well kept secret, if Disco wheels can fit on commodore hubs? The PCD is right, but the hub size, to fit that small centre bore on the Disco wheels?

Pretty sure I read it on this forum as I had researched this once before.

I am sure Tombie will enlighten us as my memory is not as good as it used to be.

Hey Tombie - bit of a old thread resurrection here. Which trailer hub did you end up using?

I am keen to do this myself, was told that because of the centre hole diameter and stud radius the bearing load was not appropriate. What is the weight of your crossover? I have a Trackmaster Gibson which is about 1800KG loaded max. Apart from wanting to run D4 wheels (will be tuffant) I would also like to put in electric over hydraulic disc brakes.
if you are happy to do so, pm me and I would be really pleased to discuss further.

Geoff - my understanding is the Commodore stud pattern trailer hub with the Ford slimline bearings is only good for 1500kg.

You do need to replace the studs as well. But the spigot on the hub with disc brakes is 60mm so should be no problem fitting the LR rims. Not sure what the spigot size is for the drum brake hubs.

Thanks David,
will look further at it, my Trackmaster van has independent suspension so fitting the disks could present some challenges however it gives me a starting point. If the load rating of the bearings is 1500Kg in theory that should meet the load rating of the van as I would have a max of 1800Kg over both wheels. Or is my logic incorrect (would not be the first time)

I think it is 1500kg ATM - not per wheel. Not sure if the limit is the axle or the bearings.

I was fortunate - the guy I purchased this off was a dealer previously and had a hub with the correct PCD but incorrect stud size.

I had custom studs made to fit (larger base Dia) and just swapped the hubs.

It’s rated at 1,800kg as well.

My next plan is to lift it another 50mm to regain some of the lost guard clearance from the bigger tyres.

Unfortunately for me to go electric brake control it will require new stubs and hubs and start again. I just keep the mech-overrun system on point and so far hasn’t been a problem (but would love Electric/Hyd)

Thanks Tombie, I am going to Pick a Part tomorrow to have a look at the commodore hubs, I am guessing it will be the rears that I would require.

Also I have some Landcruiser (am I allowed to say that here?) studs for a 76 I recently sold and the D4 nuts fit them so they could be a solution re stud size. My hub flange is a 5 bolt pattern so will see how we go.

The Jurgen is a good van/Hybrid or whatever they are called.

How'd the project turn out?Commodores don't use hubs so you'll need trailer hubs that are 5x120 pcd and have the right bore .

Project was put on hold, too many other things got in the way. Planning to have another go end this year, the electric over hydraulic is my current hurdle..

We have a trip planned down Sandy Blight, across the gunbarrel to Wiluna then other tracks through to Steep Point. Would rather test it out first off on more forgiving roads.

What hurdles do you have with electric over hydraulic…….

Is the issue finding D3 hubs with rotors.

I thought the electrical over hydraulic brakes on my camper trailer were awesome…..was quite easy bolting defender component on
