G'day Longreach, I live in Laidley Shire and went to Ricks 4x4 Nerang Gold Coast. i've been to Techobritish at Moorooka about 5 years ago. I would get a written quote, check fluid levels before you drive off & is your fan belt squealing. Also MR at Redcliffe have a go wrap.

Longreach, I had my 96 v8i Disco in there for plenty of stuff and never had any dramas. Found them to be honest, decent, reliable and very helpful. Also reasonably priced.
They don't mind giving advice over the phone either.
Now have a 02 TD5 and had previously all of the servicing done at Austral LR (i love throwing money away)! Mainly due to a work arrangement and other things.
However, had it a TechnoBritish a month or two ago to sort out a door frame/window regulator/door lock issue. They got me the part at almost cost , and went out of their way to get my beast back to me same day - and they were ridiculously busy.
Just my experiences, but i would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Had negative experience with a LR "so called expert" near Albion (won't mention the name), but I wouldn't go there.
PM me if you want any details about any of this

I think this type of forum is exactly where we should name names. I for one would be interested to know of any bad experiences people have had with service/repair centres. This is where we consumers can flex our muscles a bit.
I am also keen to know more about Technobritish. One of their guys was switched on enough to slip a card under my windscreen wiper when he saw my Defender parked in Woolloongabba. I went alon to see their workshop and it seemed mighty tidy given the amount of work they appear to put through. They said they have one of the Army servicing contracts which makes me keen to give them a go.

Techno British- I wouldn't waste my time. I remeber years ago (about 10 years ago to be exact) my old man had his LT95 4 speed in his then 81 Rangie rebuilt by them. They did a lousy job and after taking it back 3 times they couldn't get it right. I've heard people in both clubs complain about him, plus I find him too dear as well on parts and labour.
Would recommend Ricks, very good and my Rangie is on it's way there tomorrow for the Maxi-drive re-fitment (the actuartor blocks need to be mounted). Also considerd 'the guru' as far as the later P38A Rangie repairs go.
Rover care aren't too bad, but not as good since Mike Hall retired :x
But I'm sure people have had bad experiences with any LR specailst, all we can do I guess is give a good idea and you can go from there https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Good luck with it.

Well I do agree with you, and I generally call a spade a big &$*%(_% digging stick. Knights House of Rover. KHOR, was the place.
Had a "safety certificate /RWC" done that wasn't accurate, nor worth the paper it was written on. Also found the garage to be a complete s^%fight, (not that that is always a bad thing), it was disorganised, overpriced, slow to complete work, and was done incomplete. Had an issue where work wasn't done, radiator was blocked/stuffed after being told it was flushed and fine, etc. Cost big dollars.......and I'd never go near him again.
Why are "life" lessons so expensive :?: :!:  https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

thats fine as long as you dont mind being sued out of existance.
this is a public forum, YOU are directly responsible for what you put in writing.... truth has little to do with libel and defamation in Australia.
there are also conditions of access to this forum that you have to abide by and they indemnify the forum at your expense.
if you have something nice to say, this is the place.
if you dont have anything nice to say then silence is golden, especially DONT put it in a public forum.

As long as people are stating personal opinions and relating personal experiences, nobody can sue anybody. For example "I didn't like such-and-such a service place because they did this and that" is perfectly acceptable since it was your own personal experience and no-one can refute it.
I agree that we should not be making blanket statements like "XYZ Landrover service centre mix kittens in their gearbox oil..." as this may only be hearsay and defamatory. If you personally didn't like someplace because they did or didn't do somehting - then blab away! Other forum readers can then make their own minds up about whether that specific expreience is relevant when choosing their own service centre.
Like I said, this IS the place to name names when we share experiences, and be as specific as we like - but not defamatory.

Hi all,
NOT wanting to stir ANY pot or such.......BUT i will say this....
I personally feel that it is a pretty SAD day all round, when we are too frightened of LITIGiOUS crap, or the threat of, so that we cannot or will not share experiences of POOR service.....regardless of where it comes from. This is why consumer protection groups continue to exist.
At the end of the day, we folk here are all ENTHUSIASTS.....and if we are asking for just another LITTLE bit of help to ensure that we keep enjoying our Vehicles, then i see no reson why , so long as it remains 'RESPECTFUL', that we cannot support each other, and save our fellow members some EXPENSIVE heartache. I just see it as more PREVENTATIVE maintenance.
I've said my 'Politically Correct' , piece, hope this causes NO OFFENCE to anyone here,
Cheers,
Wayne.

Ever seen this site ?
http://www.notgoodenough.org/
Perhaps an alternative would be to post on their site, let them worry about the legal implications. You'd have to check their terms and conditions of course.
Then maybe you could just slip a "found something interesting on this site...." link on AULRO.
After all nobody could blame you for finding something interesting on ANOTHER site ESPECIALLY if your username were different to your aulro one.

it has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with what risks i deem i will be responsible for and what service i will offer on this site.
read the terms and conditions of access.
you dont like it, you are most welcome to move on....

Yeah, but they would not be driving 2 tonne 4x4s would they? They can suffer in quiet angst about where they last got their Toyota Prius serviced. Incidentally, the Defender is more fuel efficient per tonne than one of those I'll bet - and who do they come running to when they have to move that freezer or big TV... that's right, the guy who bought the big, urbanly irresponsible but cavernously large Landrover...
I also think this pot should continue to be stirred - after all, isn't that why we're all here instead of attending to work? (unless of course anybody is a full-time paid employee of AULRO).
Want to work... but can't tear myself away from.... contentious LandRover issues... interesting forum discussions about... gearbox rebuild and... seat covers... and trips to Cape York and... stuff...

Just read them and cannot for the life of me see where complaining about poor service contravenes them if it's not personal (eg. my mechanic is stupid), sexual (eg. my mechanic is gay) or rude (eg. my mechanic is a @#$^wit).

100% correct.
Some contributors have their personal email addresses listed, so bag away on that, one on one. Even a PM is better than a litigious post on a public forum.
Just my two bobs worth.
