hi all,

Having had my mitch hitch installed recently to sort out my towing needs properly, i am now looking at the redarc tow pro elite to install. ebay has them listed for $220 incl free delivery. i have had two auto elec quote the job who have done similar work on other D4's, quoting $1000, the other $800 incl the tow pro elite priced around $375 approx. from them. my question is why so much. I am happier to purchase the tow pro myself and seek another auto elec for few hundred dollars. D3 cost was under $200 when i provided the tow pro. price seems a bit steep. what are other paying for install of brake controller?

Mine last week,$580,including load resistors, fitted on vehicle, with switch.
Supplied and fitted.

The price actually surprised me,but i went with them as they had done D4s before.
They had also read the long thread on here about fitting them to a D3/4.

A bit far for you to come though......

It is actually very easy to do it yourself,i just didn't have time.

I paid $233, delivered, off eBay. Fitted it myself following the instructions on the forum. Not very difficult....but it you're not comfortable doing it yourself then you'll just need to pay the labour rates that auto elects charge....and I reckon 3-4 hours labour is reasonable.....it took me longer than that.

Hi Paul

May I have the contact details of who fitted the controller?

Thanks
James

So I have done the search on "brake controller fitting" and come up with zilch (another term for eyes spinning)[bawl]. Can someone point me in the right direction or post a link to the fitting instrucion as this will be a requirement in a not too distant future
