Gday All

My son has a 1990 model range rover and has managed to blow the rear diff in it. I was wondering if a front or rear diff centre from a mid 70s range rover would bolt straight in as I have access to one. any info would be great.

Thanks Gaz

1990 should have fine spline axles ... earlier (than 1988 I think) had course spline and if you swapped the axles and diff you could be OK, but course spline axles are no where near as strong.

Yes, all the diffs in those "early" years are interchangeable, the only difference being, as rrturboD says above, whether they use 10 or 24-spline shaft. 10-spline axle shafts are fine for everyday work. Problems start with bigger wheels and a heavier right foot, etc.

90 will have coarse spline axles and most older will fit but carrier bearings are different.
