Reckon all I get is one summer!

Morning Rick,
There is a cap that doesn't leak, its the same one thats fitted to the Iveco Eurocargo truck. I've had one on mine now for over a year and no leaks whatsoever. The part no is Iveco 99489567, not sure of the cost, as I picked up mine for free. That's the benefit of delivering trucks to and from the Iveco factory in Dandenong, plenty of mates in the spares department.
I'm off to Brissie this morning to deliver a new truck, but when I get back on Thursday night I'll take a photo of the one on mine.

Cheap IVECO Plug (I99489567) - Save up to 40% on genuine IVECO parts (http://www.vexi.co.uk/parts/iveco/view/I99489567/plug)
Seems expensive (U.K price) but if it works......

Are you sure the coolant cap is leaking. In the Puma the coolant level typically sits about 30mm below the center line, that is where mine and several friends level sits. Glen from Roving Mechanicals confirmed this as being typical for me as well. I check regularly, a PITA as the tank is difficult to see through. In my case to check I dunk my middle finger as far as it goes and find coolant. We drove back from Arnhem Land 4300kms in 4 days recently and I checked every morning, same level
If I top up it is a waste of time as it reverts back to that spot, just another Defender thing,
However, if the level is variable you should do something about it.

Exactly the same as mine. I gave up topping it up ages ago as it just settles back down 25 - 30mm below what is supposed to be it's level.
Many seem to have the same "problem" which seems to be a non problem.......

Yes mine is the same. Never moves from just below the centre line. No problem with my cap.

I've been speaking to an indie this morning about this problem and the issue isn't with the cap but with the viscous fan coupling(if it's a 2.2). It fails and pressure builds to the point of overflowing and covering the overflow bottle. They replace with a Td5 unit.

Hi,
Mine reservoir too is about 1 cm down from the full line. To check mine I shine my head lamp vertically down on the reservoir with the beam pointing to just beside the cap. The red liquid shows really well then.

Ok, finally found the time to take a photo after returning from Brisbane.
Like others have said my level used to settle a few mm's below the centre line, now it stays right on the fill level.

Paid $32.25 for the Iveco cap, local dealer had it in stock.
Unfortunately all these symptoms can turn out to indicate a blown head gasket.....Bugger!

I was replacing caps....then one day i thought to use a little plumbers tape round the thread on the bottle and never leaked again.
