G'day,
I broke the attached pin on my hand winch and was wondering if this is a stress break pin and how to go about fixing it? Can I just weld it together or do I have to somehow replace the pin?
thanks

It's a shear pin.....it the mechanical safety for when you overload the he winch. You really should fit the a replacement pin from the manufacturer.....if not with a bit of research you should be able to find a replacement pin. From memory they could be brass.
Definitely do not weld the two piece together .

Hi,
Is there a plastic plug in the handle shown on the right hand side of the photo?
If so, pull it out and retrieve the spare pin.
Cheers

I bought a bunch of spare pins (plus a handle) for my Tirfor hand winch from Bullivants in Perth. They also had pins from other hand winches too from memory. There are four stores in NSW. Maybe give the closest one to you a call.

I was referring to the general concept of winching, as you probably know. [wink11]
