View Full Version : Optima Yellowtop D34 for a 2007 130

Hello all,

I've been working on the 130 in the yard and it's been stationary for a couple of weeks, looks like the old battery is on it's last legs... well, actually, just took it's last steps and is now dead.

I've settled on an Optima Yellow Top as time is of the essence for a big trip I've got planned and they seem to be fairly reliable from past reading.

Questions
- Is the D34 all good for a primary starter battery for the Puma, 2.4L defender? (I'm looking to set up a dual battery system in the future but not for a while)
- Is fitting the battery a massive issue in terms of height under the seat?

I've done a bit of digging through the forum but just wanted to confirm the above before spending my hard earned. I've got a D34 put aside for pickup this arvo (Like I said, needed urgently.) so any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

Apologies if my questions are daft, I'm an electrical novice.

Cheers,
Michael

Yes they’re fine!

Turns out I shouldn't have rushed it.

The megafuse on the clamp means I can't reach the terminal. I'm about 3/4 of an inch short.

Should I rig up an extension or investigate the D35 where the terminals look closer to the edge?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi

This is a negative terminal, but there may be something like it to reduce the reach needed.

Cheers

Hi Austastar,

Looks like a good solution! Thanks very much. I'll do some digging for a local supplier and let you know if it works.

We required the fuse - sorry..

See if you can swap for a PC1500 Odyssey - they clip straight on...

No worries Tombie! I'm getting an Odyssey today/tomorrow and I'll try to return the Optima... If they don't take returns I may have a dual battery setup much quicker than I originally planned! [wink11]

Thanks for your help guys!
