I can't be bothered with the OL forum anymore. A lot of their regulars are mis/uninformed and get too personal. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Plus they don't understand my jokes!

This place is much nicer! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Just a bunch of people who like 4WDriving! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ 8)

I'm not one to get into forum bashing.

However I will say that some of my best friends over there have moved on and that is a shame.

I also have submitted my resignation from there, and no longer have a log-on or access to the forum at all.

I visit about ten other 4x4 sites and this one is by far the best of them all.

Intelligent posts ( most of the time ).

I’m yet to see a slinging match ( and don’t want to ).

Whether it be sourcing info on LRs or just 4x4s in general, this site leaves the others for dead.

Thanks must go to incisor for doing such a great job.

And thanks to all the great participants.

Cheers

Yeah, and the newsletter is pretty good as well https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Seriously, this forum has always been more level headed than most of the others.

I'm a regular on the overlander forum, and whilst I do get sick of the landy bashing (especially spacemonkey, more like spankthemonkey), I enjoy it. that said you have to have a thick hide and not bite at people fishing.

Both are great places, but it's a case of horses for courses.

Didn't mean to sound like Forum Bashing. I realise there are a lot of good people at that site. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ A few of the regulars, who all seem to think that their the only ones who've ever been offroad :x , don't get my jokes and that's frustrating!. It's hard to perform for an audience that's not responsive. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

anyway my boyfriend feels the same he said the landrover forum he went on in the uk was way to intense and everyone thought that they knew it all............he said that this forum is the best one he has seen in a long time..............he said that they seem to give good sound advice on here and be very friendly

As my Mum say's you can go along way in life with common sense and good manners and if you have a sense of humour you'll be prepared for life's disappointments.

Not bad principles when applied to a forum https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ and Land Rover ownership

Visit the OL forum fairly regularly - but the campfire less and less, generally just full of crap. Enjoy the photography section though.

Occassional visitor to 4WDMonthly, Outer Limits and ExploreOz. This would be one of the better, (no best forum) as it stays on track and only very rarely gets personal.

Heres some more lovin https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ , this is the first forum I have been a part of, in main of course to the purchase of my 1st Landy. From it I have joined a club and met some great people there and on here. Despite some of the inexperienced situations I have gotten into read " bribie island beach" 8O , I received some good hearted ribbing and excellent advice, and continue to learn. PLus have had some bloody good laughs at some of the threads.

I then thought that I would join another forum, and some of you have seen me in there, due to the great mob in here. Ummmm let me just say this is definately a bench mark place to be. Im not applying that to all people elsewhere, but it is definately a better feel in this place than some others. So thanks to all 8) ,

Regards

I think the reason this forum is so friendly and doesnt have the same crap as the other forums is because everyone is here for the same reason- Land Rover. The main reason for the crap on OL in particular is because of the increasingly boring "My 4wd is better than yours" arguement. It always amazes me how grown men and i assume the odd woman can behave like that, i see better behaviour from teenagers at school. I am sure there are some really top blokes on each and every forum, and when you get them out in the bush and there isnt a key board and a screen in front of them they are really great but the constant nature of bashing any other brand that isnt the same as yours gets tiring? If we all drove the same type of 4wd the place would be boring, and Land Rover would be rich https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Ace has the point here this forum id good due to the nature of the members and single brand devotion.

Hate to say it ..... but this is my second Favourite forum.

When I started looking for Landrover forums in 2000 there was not that many & none I could find in Oz.

I joined the LROI mob in the UK ..... Then there was a split & LRE was formed. The LRE lot owned the forum which was LROI .... then LROI started their own .... So I was in two fora. Both seemed to get really anal & banned censored widely. Some of the Mods there got swollen heads & there was loads who tooit too seriously.

While all this was going on I found ORRP. That is where I felt really at home & still do. ORRP has a reputation of being the a bunch of naughty boys & girls ...... which we are quite proud of. There is a policy of Anything Goes & very little censorship, except because of legal issues.

In 2003 I was going to the UK & was arriving just in time for the Billing Landrover Show. I posted on ORRP to ask for a lift from Cheshire. Within an hour I had a lift, a bed, food, tickets ordered & a question of what brand of beer I prefer! It was brilliant!

I really like this place too ..... it's got a similar 'feel' but is a lot more polite.

Feel free to come over & say hello on ORRP, but remember they can be a bit rough ...... but a good lot. If you get slagged off you are being accepted (or have really ****ed someone off) Give it a try.

Who knows .... these two sites could become 'sister' forums? Local councils do it & get Junkets.... why not us?

Yes I like it here as well. I'm not a fan of mixed forums anyway, LR enthusiast have some manners and common sense, plus no Toyota and Nissan idiots who think there **** doesn't stink :x :x :x

Overlander is okay, the LR bashing gets annoying but I do the same back and try and be diplomatic about it without getting personal. Also get on Outer Limits, primarily the Rover tech section and sometines the trips section but not the general sections, too much raving on for my liking.

People who get personal on forums are gutless wonders who need to get a life. That's what private messages are for, have a beef discuss it between yourselves and not slander each over over a public forum.

I used to frequent the RR and Disco forum but only 'look' at time to time now. Most of the regulars have buggerd off to here or Outer Limits.

4WD monthly, maybe once a week. The D2AU forum isn't too bad, not much traffic but only been going a little while I think :?:

It was a shame when the $h!t hit the fan at LRE and everyone bailed. It was a bloody good forum.

This forum has come along in leaps and bounds in the last few years (even though I've only been posting here a short while). I actually remember when it was proposed and then set up to run alongside the AULRO mailing list waaay back in the mists of time. Funny thing is I've only ever recalled seeing Ron here from the mailing list, but then Ron's on most boards and lists I've seen.

I'm starting to think Ron's omnipotent. 8O https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Not wrong disco95, I must try to be in Sydney at the same time as one of ace’s gatherings. 8)

Tony, if it only loaded faster on dial-up, my post count would've been a lot higher over there.
Is Uncle Des behaving himself ?? I should pop in and give him a hurry up https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
It was a shame when the $h!t hit the fan at LRE and everyone bailed. It was a bloody good forum.

ORRP loads up faster than here for me & I am stuck on Dial-Up.

Uncle Des eh? When has he ever behaved himself. I remember him arriving over there & it was good to see another Aussie. I think I had about 800 posts then. He beat me to the 1000 milestone IIRC. He now has over 16K posts there now & I am still to reach 4k!

I do hope to get down to SA one day to meet Capt Birsdeye.

Another reason too is I dont have time, especially when at home to be surfing several different forums. Basically I have picked one that is most relevant, has reasonable members and is not full of morons that actually know nothing about 4wds but think they know everything. Lots of meaningful dialogue with splashes of entertaining dribble and as my last 3 cars have been LRs it is appropriate.

I agree with all of you.
My wife says I spend way too much time on the computer so have to choose my fora wisely. :?

It is good that it is a single platform forum, coz my current weapon (disco) is my first https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ and I wanted a LR specific info and network of like minded folk (see some of you at wandin  ) to learn from.

I am also attracted by the stars, Ace being my fave tall poppy
Many other fora are restrictive in content or band width or post limits or just full of real snappers  who spoil it for all.

Well done AULRO

(another post for me  add one to my count 8O gotta catch Ace et al)

Ralph
