Is there a JEEP forum in Oz that's at least half-way as good as ours ? [bigwhistle][bigwhistle][bigwhistle]
If not, then a quick question with a view to saving my #1 son from wasting time and Money on a "bargain" 2005 2dr hardtop petrol /4 litre jeep.
Owner is co-worker going back to England, and his well looked-after Jeep is up for grabs, the only fly in ointment is the 6-speed manual gearbox which is currently with some trans shop,,, for several months now. Car is ready for Rego inspection apart from transmission. All bushes and suspension bits ruthlessly renewed as required or suspected.
'Death-Wobble' is not an issue...[smilebigeye]
The Would-Be-buyer wants to know if it's possible & practical to put in a Jeep 5 speed instead, on the basis that 6-speeds are rare and apparantly Boxes of Issues ... Problem was, "jumping out of (4th?) gear. Selecting Reverse was occasionally a challenge too.

Needing either a Jeep Forum, or a heads-up on a COMPETENT and Interested... Transmission Repairer here in Perth WA. Or both.
Thanks!
