hi guys,
Doing a 300tdi timing belt change for the first time - also had to replace the o-ring and seal behind the crankshaft gear due to a leak there.
Now, i'm not sure if there is a method required to 'reseat' the crankshaft gear to the correct depth? Should the crankshaft gear line up with the idler and tensioner pulleys if it at the correct 'seated depth'?
The woodruff key goes back on just fine, but it seems to me the gear itself might be sitting a few mm proud.
Is there a process to ensure that the crankshaft gear has been driven in properly? I seem to get ' bounce back' from the o-ring, i'm not confident i've done this correctly.
Thanks all.
