Hi
Anybody seen this before?
Happened in the driveway this morning when the wife started the car to go to work. Thought it was the belt but closer inspection revealed the pump has a snapped casing and is just dangling. Suspect it was sacrificial to something else.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2017/09/1067.jpg

Must have taken a hit or 2 at some stage, is it integral to the pump or a separate bracket ?

Hard to see from the picture , but are you sure its not the housing of the pump itself that has snapped.?
Cheers Ean

Yep it was the bracket and yep it was hard to get to.
Just snapped in the driveway. Hasn't been on a bumpy road in 2 years. Imagine if it happened somewhere remote.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2017/09/1071.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2017/09/1072.jpg

Good job! Is the rear stay / bolt / stiffener connected ? That may be the reason it broke. Iirc there is a bolt or bracket behind the pump.

JcYou're spot on mate. Just realised there was no rear bolt. Looking at the picture of the bracket and it looks like it has been missing for a while. That explains it. Thanks

The car is one of the first D3 in 2005 and has done about 230k. I've had it 3 years and the dirt around the engine comes from the previous owner. Looking at the bracket the rear bolt hole has broken and there is no colour change around the alloy so must have broken some time ago. Who knows when the bolt fell out. The car has been really good since i have owned it.
