Have a fairly new TD5 Defender with stock wheels on. Just wondering if anyone is going out to do any tracks this weekend. I would like to tag along, with my 4 year old son.

Thanks,

Ken

I'm usually out and about for a play at least once on the weekends.

You could come up to Yarra State Park and check it out if you like.

Just a couple of questions...

Have you got recovery points front and rear?

Mud tyres or all terrains? If it's dry AT's will do but if it's wet MT's are necessary. Mainly clay base in the area.

Have you driven off road much?

What sort of stuff do you want to do? (Easy, Medium , Hard or Crazy!)

Theres all sorts of stuff up there. From easy to Extreme and in close proximity to each other. Come up and check it out. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Just a quick reply on my experience. I have a bit of experience in off road driving. Had a 97 Discovery v8 manual that I took into the forest on the odd weekend. Traded it in on the Defender. I have kept the mud tires from the old Discovery, but they are a lower profile than the tires on the Defender, they lower the car by about 70mm. Am waiting on finances to improve to replace them with 235/85/16 mud terrain tires.
I am familiar with the Yarra Ranges, as I lived in Belgrave for 5 years, so know some of the tracks up there. I am just a bit apprehensive to take any of them by myself. I have had the Discovery really bogged up there before (Pull the carpet out, and hose it down kind of bogged).
As for recovery points, rear is good (trailer hitch mount), front not very good as yet.
It is raining as I write this, so probably not good for this weekend.
Just want to get used to the new viehicle, and see how it handles in the bush.

No worries Ken. I just like to check with people before they come out driving with me. I like to do challenging stuff and I'm always looking for harder tracks to do. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

A few of us from the forum have been out a few times together and had a ball. Great bunch of blokes so no worries there if you ever want to come along in the future.

I'll be going for a drive next Saturday morning with Kaistuf and Wollapit85 if you want to come along. Again just around my place. (Mineshaft hill, britannia range etc etc) We're going to head to the Wandin show afterwards to meet up with the others that are going.
