Hi,
I have been in one of those. They used to exercise with 75 Sqn at Butterworth in the late 60.
After a heavy night drinking, the Poms would do a pre dawn take off, and return to do a near vertical climb just over the base.
Huge noise from full thrust and the stench of fuel did not go down well with hangovers.
