Has anyone in Adelaide (or SA in general) had a TD5 chip upgrade done by Triumph Rover Spares on a Defender TD5? Are they experts at this?

There are lots of articles here on chip upgrades but seemingly all from the eastern states.

I took a look at the kit yesterday, and for my model (2001) it is an exchange CPU, not a chip re-flash. $700 to exchange and 15 mins to fit. Supposed to give 40% improvement in power and torque.

Anyone know what brand/type the upgrade is? Would it be the same unit that Bruce Davis sells in Sydney?

If it's the Bruce Davis that is good value, mine cost $900. 8O

It is the Davis Chip....

And the intercoolers are/were manufactured by me.
They still have one of mine there unless they have sold it/ moved to a new supplier.

Cheers

Thanks Mike - I think they still have your intercooler there for sale. Lovely piece of work.

It is on display in a glass cabinet, and the guy told me they had had it for over a year because the chip gave enough power without needing the intercooler upgrade. Didn't ask the price because I didn't think I could afford it (and didn't want to be tempted).

$700 sounds like quite a good price because, as Frencie said, Davis are selling them for a few hundred more. Maybe they do some further customisation for the extra cash?

Also Mike: Do you still have any of that poly winch rope for sale?

Query on the chip upgrade - has anyone had a response from their insurance company on these ? And if so, what did it do to the premiums ?

My insurance didn't say anything. They only upped my excess by $100 due to the 2 inch lift.
