Hello,
just got a few parts back from sandblasting, here are their weights prior to hot dipping:
(Taken individually with scale on workshop hoist)
* SWB chassis (w/o gearbox xmember) = 114kg
* firewall = 40kg
* radiator support = 7kg
Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas.
Firewall 40kgs, seems a bit high.
That is a 3rd of the weight of a whole chassis.
I moved my S3 firewall, last week. I would have struggled at that weight.

Jeez, I thought the firewall weight was light. Oh well, it is what it is

Hi Tomkah,
if your getting your chassis galvanized how are you going about cleaning the inside of the chassis rails or do you just flush out what you can and leave it to the galvanizers to sort out. Also do you have a cost for getting these 3 galvanized. Thanks for your help

Hi guys,
had another go at the weighing...40kgs on the nose. You may be stronger than you think. I have to say though that I replaced the footwells with thicker material (bulletproof) and that I bolted some "feet" on so maybe take 5kgs off?
Sorry about the confusion.
Cheers,
Thomas

Hello,
I added a couple of drain holes and flushes it out as good as I can. Then after the blasting I blew it out. We'll see what the galvaniser has to say. No cost yet, I am going through the account of a mate's steel business. I am guessing maybe $5 per kg / after dipping? Somebody told me he paid around $6.50/kg retail.
Cheers,
Thomas
