Hi Guys
My missus is lucky to be here.
They were preg testing cows at work yesterday, she was closing a gate and a cow kicked it open. The gate hit her in the face and knocked her over.
Off to hospital, her bottom lip torn off from the gum line,(as Lindsay did when he stacked his BMX) and she has a bad t shaped cut above her right eye.She is all stitched up and home after spending the nite in hospital with concusion. She is very lucky, hoping the scaring isnt too bad,but at least she is OK.

Ouch!!!! Oh, Dear.
Hope she mends quickly Andy. Best wishes.
Cows are pretty unforgiving when they kick.

Thats why the only cows I go near are the ones on the dinner plate. Have had some close calls with horses and donkeys.
Had a similar experience with a frined at a after night shift BBQ. Intoxicated a lot he decided to take one of the kids BMX bikes for a ride and prove he could do a better mono. Needless to say face first into the asphalt. Doctors visit and 35 stitches later he returned for a drink about 2.00pm. Could not speak properly (like a mouth full of cotton wool) for about 3 months. Not nice.

Thats not good at all mate, hope she recovers quickly. Only problem is it can sometimes be scary to go back and keep working with them after an incident like that.
They can get nasty when they kick, when i worked at the dairy at the UNI i always had that worry in the back of my mind that one would kick one day. Well it did and sconed me in the forehead when i was in the pit milking them, the hoof came sideways through the rail and sconed me right in the head, i finished milking the rest of the cows and then drove myself to hospital where the doc told me i had a hard head and was fine, i was bloody lucky, an inch to the right would have been in the temple.

Medium Rare, and with a beer thanks.

Beat me to the punch line, but I'll order a side of beef.
I hope your better half is well and healing.
Why not do the American thing and sue the cow for damages?
Wonders if the beak would say 'that's a load of bull'???
Kathys' Uncle Les is a dairy farmer near Casino (NSW) and during the course of milking, one of these bovines got him in the face with a rear leg, his jaw was in another paddock, yahooo! I've never seen anything like it. (Well he needed a full set of new teeth.....)
Get well,
Cheers, GQ

She is going to have a nice scar above her eye but other than that she is lucky, there wont be any scaring around her mouth. Did you buy a lottery ticket?

20th February 2006, 07:43 PM
If the lottery ticket pays... buy me a nice rifle and I'll come and shoot the cow for you.

Nasty.
Glad she's healing.
I grew up on a dairy farm with 160 cows we milked twice daily, so I know what you mean about cows - they're almost as stupid as sheep https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
What you do is, next time you're about to put the cups on that particular cow to milk it, you attack a battery lead from a handy battery to the metal cup. Watch the cow jump! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
