any thing peculiar to the 130 that can bite you?
TIA

Inc
Specific to130
Most notable on tray models
Tray mount cracking
Chassis integrity - cracks infront of rear spring tower
Rear window leak/rattles easy fix but leaks here can run down rear cab wall

Tray mounts (where tray fitted) - most of them I've seen are wrong so its more a matter of getting it right after the fact rather than worrying about it beforehand (except check the integrity of the tray itself to make sure no cracking etc)
But generally a Tdi Defender is a Defender is a Defender.

Rust in the floor under the pedals. Tap with 50c piece and be aware it is double skinned.

in addition to everyone else's comments so far, look for the usual leaks on the 300Tdi motor - g pasket, vacuum pump, crankcase oil breather/separator (attached to drivers side of the tappet cover) also check the hoses connected to this breather as they leak easily if the hose clamps are not tight

I test drove one up your way about 5 years ago. Went OK, but with the Disco transfer case, was a slug off the mark. I do know of a couple of forumites who recently put one in a 110, and are very happy with it.

Any idea what the weight difference is between a 130 (twincab/alloy tray) and a 110 (CSW) ?

Yep, one of our older members, Edd, (George130) had an auto in his Td5.

..and because sometimes I can be helpful.
Re auto conversion.
Ashcroft offer the full kit with reco ZFHP22 including NAS spec console.
However since D1 Autos are plentiful and have all the bits except the console, I would find a D1 and take the bits.
Link to Ashcroft "ancillaries" for the conversion. Ashcroft Transmissions (http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/miscellaneous/defender-auto-conversion-parts.html)
I did the auto in my 130 build and am totally stumped why LR didnt have the auto as option in the Defer.
The conversion is as straight forward as they come and all bits are a direct bolt up...minor caveat
Things you will have to fabricate or get from Ashcroft if you choose D1 for parts.
1/ Cover plate for firewall where the clutch pedal box has been removed.
2/ Auto Shifter mount bracket.
3/ Console.
Things you will have to fabricate.
1/mount brackets for auto cooler up front.
I have the NAS console in mine it is very nicely made and looks the goods.

Haven't been on for a few days, so just saw this - well played incisor!
Any chance you would like to share how much you got it for? You can pm me if you want.
I'm still thinking of buying the one with the Inter 2.8 in it. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, but the lad that owns it sent me quite a few photos. There is some rust showing through the bottom of the doors which is a bit concerning & a little around the hinges that maybe just surface? Current owner wasn't sure what the crossmember was [emoji21] so no pics of that. I'm wondering how much beach work he's done in it in the passed 18 months?
There is also a pretty clean 300tdi in Sydney atm but it's a bit tired.
I feel like by the time I buy a clean 300tdi (if I can find one) and go through it - axles, lockers, winch, ac, engine etc temp sensors plus the cosmetics, I would spend a few quid anyways and I'd still only have a 300tdi....
Otoh I should be able to pick up some doors in good nick or just cut & weld the existing ones if necessary. It really does come down to $ though.
I think I now have a sale for my 110 - should know by tomorrow.
Would anyone in the Tweed area like to visit and inspect the 130 for me?

Yep it was cool.
Yep I'd have one in my 130 in a heartbeat.
Yep. I can't afford it.
Yep. I'll live. :)
