i was driving along the gateway this afternoon minding my own business when i see a sea off bake lights in front of me, managed to pull the fender up just in time, didn't hit the car in front, looked in the rear view mirror and the ute behind hits me and pushes me into the camry

damn what a way to finish the day off

no damage to the fender, the camry now has a nice impression of my bullbar, he could still drive away, the ute however needed a tow truck as the radiator was pushed back onto the fan

the ute was an old banged up campany car, the worker didn't know if it was insured, have to wait till tomorrow to ring the owner, i hope the ute is insured as i sure the camry driver will put a claim in on me. RACQ have indicated they will forward the claim onto the utes insurance company

Mate you may find the ute will be responsible. I was in a 4 car pile up years ago similiar situation, I was thr front car, braked to not hit a cr who had breaked to not hit another. car behind me stopped didnt hit me, ditto behind him but poor old bugger behind him hit and set off a train reaction. He/ insurer had to wear the lot,

Sorry about that.

Bloody lovely how people always respect the distance between cars and look where they are going

all bloody Richard Craniums if you ask me. Like those turkies who bust their ring to get past you, then slow down to 85 Kph once they are in front

On the positive side... there may be one less camry in the world... those things are the closest the world knows to whitegoods on wheels 8O 8O 8O

the fun starts

i have not made an insurance claim in nearly 10 years so it was a new experience

even though i believe i was not in the wrong i have had to make a claim as the the owner/driver of the vehical that hit me has not produced his insurance details or licence details, so to save hassels i have handed it over to RACQ, i figured thats what i pay for, hopefully it's resolved in my favour within a month so that my excess is waved.

Russian roulette Gateway style, the more grunt you got the better your chances of getting out alive 8O 8O

In the disco I just roll out the booths and stay well away from the LeMans take off

But in the Falcoon  https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

With the V8 in the Disco and with the XR6, either or can belt out like a racehorse, though the XR6 will get their first. Once the V8 starts to snarl though, and the black beastie gets momentum, I usually get a clear path 8O , not that I would advocate that style by any means 8) , no sirrr reeee,

I use the "E TAG" lane and I'm sure it is about 4 lanes you have to get across in a space of about 150 metres to be on even the far left hand lane of the bridge

Fortunately not too many people take on the Rangie out of the blocks.

Nah, wouldnt want to try it from the Etag lane, that does take some "kahonies", Im actually surprised that there isnt more accidents there as it really is a combination of the start of Bathurst, to complete dawdlers out of the gates there,

I have grave fears that it's your responsibility to name the drivers https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Why wouldn't he give you his details? sounds fishy to me https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Probably unlicenced or something like that. Did the police come.. it sounds as though they should have. That would have made it easier for you.

I hate to say it, but I reckon you can say goodbye to your excess. Sounds like the other guy is not insured. If you have his rego or company name I would be approaching the police with the details as it is an offence under the road traffic act not to provide your details to other drivers in the event of an accident. I would also approach the company he works for and explain to a manager that one of their vehicles hit you and the driver would not provide details. Personally I would have called the police immediately if he would not provide the details and had him breath tested.
Hope you can sort it out.

Don't wait for the insurance company to sort it.......

If you've got a repair quote or accident report or letter/receipt from your insurer, you can go into Qld Transport and get the reg'd owners details.
You need rego # and brief descrp. of vehicle. They'll charge you prob $15 and send the details to you the next day.

I'd be doing this and sending it to your insurer. Don't pay an excess or bugger your rating for some other tosser.

thanks for the feedback

at this stage i will let RACQ run with it as this is what they do all day every day

they indicated they should have it all sorted before the due date for the excess and that i won't need to pay, either way its not going to effect my rating

something strange,

no damage to the fender, the car i was pushed into still has not made a claim but has sent a letter of demand from his company, the car owner of the car behind is uncontactable,

why am i doing all the work

Sounds good (touch wood). Letter of demand sounds like they dont there insurance involved, not always the case.
Not surpirsed by no dmge to the Defender........

At the lights, outside State High last year - I was reaching for a bag and my foot came off the brake, didn't worry i thought Disco was in park
It wasn't. Travelled about 5metres at walking pace and hit one of those 2 door rubber band powered Nippon hatches. I was all apologetic, young woman opens her door - and says it's OK doesn't look that bad. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I said u better take a look at the back of your car.
Bumper and boot are now in the shape of a V, roof is bent in, window popped out, but unbroken 8O 8O Wow she says.
How'd the Disco pull up, a rubber stop off the bullbar fell off  Nothing bent. Airbags didnt go off - either not enough impact or the bullbar install is up the left https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
$3000 damage on a car I wouldn't give $5 for! & they fixed it....
Alls well that ends well - well it will be when I get my rating 1 back https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I would have thought if you pulled up in time and you only hit the camry after the ute pushed you into them that the camry should be claiming against the ute aswell. matt

one word against another, from my statement my insurer is passing it all onto the third car which they will hopefully accept.
