Hi all,
I noticed that a circlip was on the slab under the truck as I was clearing the tools away today. Now the new clutch is in, all floor plates screwed back in, new seat belts installed and all seems fine, but I can't find a home for the circlip!
The shape indicates that it is an external clip, and I have had a good look underneath but I can't see where it has come from.
The 200 tdi runs smoothly, no problems at all!
Can anyone guess where this may have fallen off????

Well, having scrolled through many many websites for series circlips, I eventually found a hint and solved the mystery.

I will let the question sit for a bit and see if any old landie mechanics can work this little puzzle out.

No prizes, just acknowledgement for the clever person who can identify the offending clip.

Looks to me like the circlip off the handbrake bell crank.

If I had to guess who would be the winner, it would be John. spot on.

Pic not great, but you can see that i've used a piece of plate about 50*120 to attach the belt reel.

Very likely as the car is on it's side so the driver would have hit his head as the car went over. [bigwhistle]

The reel is located behind my shoulder and only just touches if I lean hard into the door.
