Broome in the late 70's, early 80's , was a fascinating place. Still a touch wild, with a raw edge. We loved it, had to berth at the huge wharf , a little way out of town. The tropical tides made it interesting, tending the ropes and lines was a constant job. [ you can see the wharf early on in this video, often you had to climb a ladder about 15 metres at low tide. ok when you are sober...] One time there were two patrol boats alongside, a huge storm blew in, our boat had no officers on board, the senior sailors took her to sea for the night. Next day we took her alongside, with some very nervous officers looking on from the wharf. A great old town, with a thousand memories.
