View Full Version : E-diff....how do you tell on Carsales.com.au

Hi all
I am considering a L494 SDV8 and am looking for a low km 2nd hand, with e-diff.
On Carsales.com.au this Option is "Differential Rear - Active/Electronic". Type this into the search box and it will bring up cars with this option. At least it works with L405 and Disco, L320 RRS. I haven't found one advert for a L494 where this search works. And I've been looking for ages.
Does anyone know how you can tell from an advert on carsales if it has this Option?
cheers

Ediff only comes on L494 with Dynamic option which includes torque vectoring etc. I have it on my SDV6. ‘‘Twas quite an expensive option.

If you have access to the VIN the Topix site will tell you the full build detail.

I just registered as an Independent Operator some time ago ..... a lot of the detailed stuff you need to pay for... but basic stuff like the build info is there for free.

Ask Car Sales for the VIN, I'm sure they will advise a potential customer.

I also found that quite often cars on carsales are also advertised on other pages .... often with details like VIN that are not included in the Carsales adds...
I found the eDiff was a feature that sometimes never got mentioned on any ad - but was on the original Topix build.
Hope you find what you are looking for....

cheersHmmm just a thought, but I'd take a better example second hand without an e diff over a slightly less good second hand vehicle with it. I know your current vehicle has an e diff, but you really don't need it. I went through a serious mud hole a few weeks ago with ATs on the the D4 and after 5 secs of throttle, few left to rights of the wheel and straight up and out. And RRS has a shorter wheel base so you'd probably do it even easier... Just a thought.
If it means that much to you though it might be worth hunting for one. Would have to be doing some pretty serious off-road driving and often for me to understand why...

Re “....so found that quite often cars on carsales are also advertised on other pages .... “ do you mean other websites?
I found vehicles on dealer web-sites in the general area of the seller's location when looking at specific carsales ads. The dealer ads usually show the VIN.

Yep,when I was looking for my current Discovery - rather than relying on car sales I used Google to hunt for other links selling Discovery 4... I found it was not uncommon for the same vehicle to be advertised on more than one site - often one would have the VIN and another would not.
Then I used Topix to get a clear picture of the build rather than what the advertisers wanted to tell me..

Not that it matters regarding the topic, yes for the L320 RRS but not the L494, D4 wheelbase 2885mm, L494 wheelbase 2923mm. It is a big car, it's even longer than the D4 - just.

If you look at the build your own or Specification and Price Guide there is no ediff, either optional or included, for any model. Even the SVR version does not have an ediff and nor do the Dynamic Versions. I don't know whether some earlier models had one but that is probably why you can't find one. The FFRR has an ediff on the supercharged petrol version.

My 2014 SE Dynamic definitely has an Ediff.

e-diff does exist on L494, it just can't be spec'd on its own which is why it can't be seen on in the "build your own" tool, it comes as a part of the Dynamic Pack.

E-diff def available on FFRR SDV8 too (not just SCV8) - have seen a number with that Option listed on carsales; it appears either under "Options" menu; or under Specifications section, where its fitted.

Yes, Ediff is standard on all FFRR SDV8's for the current model, according to the Land Rover web site Specification and Price Guide, and optional on Petrols, other than the SCV6. NA for SCV6 and TDV6.
Nothing at all listed for the current Sport whether for Dynamic versions or not, whereas for the D5 and Vogue and even the Velar they make a point of listing it, whether standard equipment or optional in a pack.

I think that is just a marketing choice. it is mentioned in the current brochure:
The Torque Vectoring by Braking system with dynamic active rear locking
differential delivers responsive, controlled cornering and handling through even the
tightest of bends. The electronic differential and vehicle’s brake system constantly
balance the distribution of engine torque between the four wheels when cornering.
Exceptional grip and steering confirm Range Rover Sport as our most
dynamic SUV.
The system is also active in off-road conditions using the relevant Terrain
Response settings. It can be very effective in conditions such as sand,
where it helps the vehicle turn in and avoid excessive understeer.

Cool, thanks SBD4.
I knew it must be written somewhere but I couldn't find it. Much easier when it is listed properly in the options and specs as it is for all the other Land Rovers.

I found it difficult to find build info on this site. I was chasing what my RRs had by default as a 2016 HSE.

Oh OK - I still have access to my Vin details but I have been a continuous member for about 8 years so maybe the restriction only applies to new members.
