Mate of mine has a 2WD model,tows a massive van,van weighs well over 3.5T.

Been all over the countryside, even has a lifter on the back to get the Harley on.

Never had an issue.

2WD different kettle of fish, It all Iveco

The 4WD is cobbled from parts made by various manufacturers

The Axle assemblies are by Carraro , an Italian Tractor builder, and thus the brakes are not suitable for road speeds, but none the less - unbreakable .

The chassis, suspension and transfer case is built by Industrial supplier SCAM Trucks and Iveco have no idea (or training) how to service them. TC also not suitable for highway speeds.

As for price, I notice you're trading under the dealership's cash sales account.
Have you considered creating a business or personal account with the dealership, and putting the thumb screws on them to drive at the very least, 'trade' discount? I think you'll find they'd be somewhat reasonable if you approach them about it.

For many trade suppliers like this, there is NO discounting on the cash sales account, hence you'll be 'gouged' at list price every single time.

Secondary point - it's a truck. Truck things are expensive.

With all the modifications, lack of support and doubt about these things, wouldn't an Isuzu 4x4 of similar size be a better proposition in this country? I ask this as a casual bystander.
Don.

not necessarily , you can buy a kit to reline the all wheel brakes on B Double cheaper than a single set of rear brake shoes for a Daily 4x4 .

if the brakes actually stopped the vehicle it would not hurt so much.

No, in comparison, the 4x4 Isuzu and 4x4 Canter are hideous off road

The Daily 4x4 is absolutely brilliant , in standard form is magnitudes more capable than a modified Defender in any off road situation , plus fast and economical off road ( brakes and reliability withstanding) is the only reason some owners are putting up with them , you do need deep pockets though.

Hi,
I notice that Iveco are doing more of the 4wd/camping shows so at least trying to sell their product, so does anyone know if the latest model is better ie have they addressed the apparent shortfalls of earlier ones? Does anyone know if the Earthcruiser converted ones with camper bodies also have issues as I would have thought they would not choose them if they become problematic to customers. We all know some pumas have major issues-( others none at all)-this forum is proof but we also put up with them so is the Iveco worse? Alan

I’m looking to sell it soon.
Sell your Italian Kenworth, buy it back, spend the change on yourself.

The New E6 is almost EXACTLY the same underpinnings as the E5 , just different styling more emissions gear and ESC , still no AirBags either.

ALL the Iveco 4x4's have the same inherent Issues, not just the odd Friday afternoon lemons as is usual with other brands. The only 2 improvements the New Model has over the Old model is the Transfer Case upper crossmember has been redesigned to make room for the new AdBlue SCR . in redesigning it they inadvertently made the upper TC mount brackets stronger , On the Early model the brackets are butt welded, they flex & fail.

The other improvement is the non working Load Proportioning valve above the rear diff has been deleted, as is not required with ABS , Its fitted to the early models but also not required, Its mounted in such a way that it flexed and the rear brake line fractures causing total brake failure - there is no redundancy = ADR design failure .

This is such a shame. I am tired of driving 20+++ year old trucks, like the Oka and the Perentie 6x6, but it seems that buying new is going to be worse than sticking to my worn out old bangers. I can't fault the Oka for perfomance in any aspect - but it is 25 years old and has done over a million k's. Doesn't matter how much you change or refresh, there is always something not thought of waiting for the next desert crossing to fail.

So, Iveco, if you are monitoring this please note:- Fix your reliability issues and I will buy one immediately!!

I talked to an Iveco sales rep at last years Perth 4x4 show (not yesterday's show) and he was very defensive about the shortfalls. Having seen the AULRO pages discussing these issues, I mentioned them on behalf of a friend who was thinking about buying one. He was adamant the proportioning valve was ok and people just didn't set it up right when they put their rigs together, ie user fault, not the manufacturer. He also said the new brakes were much better, but wasn't much help with all the other issues I mentioned. Buyer beware I guess. Like many vehicles, some stupidly thought out crap can often spoil a wonderful design.

Ive driven the new one, and would love to speak to someone who has used them for work, rather than a recreational purpose. The issues with the first series have turned me off buying one, Id rather go with a bullet proof Isuzu, yes more uncomfortable, but at least they are more user friendly and practical in the bush. The dealer couldn't even find or advise me of where the battery was in the Iveco.. At $120k, I am expecting a 15+yr working life, with minimal major component issues, I don't think these Ivecos are up to that stage yet but would love to see some government agencies feedback on them..are there any?
