hi all,
recently purchased the iidtool and looking into storage options for the D4. saw one pic of someone attaching it to the side of steering wheel with velcro i guess on part of the dash but this means its fairly exposed (when not in use). great for running live data though. so my question is where do people store when not in use somewhere in the car? glovebox? centre console? thx

Chuck it into the glove box. It's not doing anything so you can put it anywhere close at hand for when it's really needed. Just make sure that you have updated it at home first and you have established connection with it from your phone (assume BT version) first.

My iiD lives on the end of an extension cable sitting on the cover that's above the pedals. For me, leaving it in the OBDII port when running live values is too risky for kicking it because it's very close to your right foot.

I bought a longer extension cable so I could trial with where to put it. In the end I tucked it under the steering column while I decided what to do. Haven't moved it since and have had no issues at all. It means that it can be removed easily if I want and is definitely out of sight which was a small concern for me.

Forgot to say that you can buy flat ribbon cable extensions and they sit a lot better in the OBDII port with much less chance of being kicked by accident. Here's a link to a store that sells them so you can see what I mean. I didn't buy from them as I could get it much cheaper else where.

Nothing inside my D4 is visible... you can’t see through the tint [emoji56]

Mine is velcroed under the lid of the center console.

I have the 1m elbow cable permanently plugged in and looped over the steering column. My iidtool is not connected for most of the time and lives in the little void between the steering column and the speedo.

Mine would get cold and condensation in there [emoji41]

Please update when you get the cable. I have bought 2 from different suppliers and they have not worked, not all pins were connected, so if yours does they will sell another one.[thumbsupbig]
