Hi Guys,

many threads on this but were the Aust ARMY LRs negatively ground or the other convention. Mine is '69 109 IIA but it is fitted with an alternator NOT a gennie. Also how the h*ll do you get the drivers side seat base off, I have removed all the bolts but the 2 forward countersunk screws have me reaching for a coldie. I figured I could take the RH Fuel tank out to access the nuts but that looks like a bundle of work just to remove 2 screws.

Cheers,

Barra

they (Mil and Civy) went from positive earth to neg earth around 67 IIRC.

As Paul says the change from positive to negative earth was in 1967 (chassis suffix 'C').

The screws do not have nuts on them, but the spring steel fasteners called 'speednuts'. I suspect the problem is that either they have been screwed down so the speednut is gripping above the thread or the speednut is spinning. Try levering the panel up with a screwdriver while undoing the screws.

Well I finally got the seat base removed - had to take the whole lot out just to get to the 2 countersunk screws located at the forward end of the seat rail. Not speednuts as suggested, just plain 'ol csk screw and nut. Ahh well - at least I can remove 49 years worth of oily/sandy/muddy/rocky gunk
