My wifes 92 Range Rover had been flattening the battery while parked up. I tracked it to the courtesy lights not going out.
With difficulty I found the relay and removed it. That solved the problem for now but we would still like the lights.
The relay is PRC8700 which Mario tells me has been superceeded by PRC9948. Both are unobtainable.
It has 9 pins. The 5 in the centre are the same configuration as a normal relay then with 4 smaller pins one in each corner.
Now I dont care for the delay so is there a simple way to plug something in there or rewire so the lights still go on and off but without the delay.
There has to be a solution as ours cant be the first.
Any ideas?

I can't remember all the details but I recently removed one for a mate of mine that had the same problem. I identified the wire that came from the door switches and either used it to switch a plain relay or wired it direct to the switched side of the interior lamps. I put a separate switch into this wire so the doors could be left open without interior lights if needed.

Does not ship to Australia.
I think I'd build a courtesy light delay unit and install it - or fix the electronics in the original relay.

Thanks but I think the kit is beyond me.
About 60 years ago I built a single valve radio receiver called a Hikers one. I think it was from Popular Mechanics and used a long 9 volt battery with several tappings along it to power up the filaments etc. No speaker just headphones. Thats the extent of my expertise.
I used the Range Rover 86 to 94 WSM vol 0ne to find it and its not the same as what I found anyway. The relay was in a different place and was a black one where the WSM says its red[bigsad]
