It depends on your NBN connection ( or maybe the speed that the Microsoft site is downloading). Mine took about 6-8 hours to download on my computer and my wife's which is on our wifi network.
This was after several months of failure because "some files not available".
I then replaced the hard disk and did a system image and then ran the Microsoft online file correction program.

Finally success and I have to admit the system runs much quicker but that could be the new hard disk.

Hmmm, I had a Windows 10 update automatically start, upload, try to install, fail and said it would restore original system. It has now been looping through start-up for well over an hour. Trouble, methinks!
This is on my desktop by the way.

I think I now know another reason why I don't use Windows!

The original system should be in a folder called something like windows old, so you should be able to reinstall from there.

I can't get the computer to boot. I even changed the BIOS to boot from the DVD but, alas, to no avail. Just kept looping with the added text " Insert boot disk into drive", which I had done.

Might be a job for a technoman.

Did you make a system repair disk?

I would turn the system off and remove the battery for 30seconds then try and boot from a system repair disk. I am assuming laptop.

Nah, mate, desktop. Off to the bloke who built it for me this Monday . He's going to give me a hard time as he warned me about Windows 10 18 months ago.

I must admit it took me months to get to the position that the creators upgrade would load and it only did it after I fitted a new hard disk. I guess the old disk was adding errors all the time.
I ran all of the Microsoft disk checkers .
But once the creators upgrade has been installed the computer runs fine .

I don't actually USE any of the upgrades but it works fine. LOL.
