Gripe: Banks and Insurance Companies are all crooks!!!

I just want to get this off my chest, because neither of the establishments are even bothered!!!

1. Insurance Companies:

Been insured with NRMA since arriving in Sydney in 1997, rating 1, Multi policies, shareholder, Auto Club member etc etc

Come my renewal, they increase the premium - as usual, even though the car is worth less and I have yet another year of clear driving THEN ask me to pay $69 extra for choice of repairer - which I had always had as standard before their rehash!!! So in my mind was going to pay even more for what I already had

I shopped around - got cheaper quotes with choice of repairer etc but NRMA don’t price match. I ring to verify why its so much, their answers were all about the major discounts I already get for i continued insurance ii multi-policy discount iii rating 1 etc etc

So I then got a quote from a broker with all the same details - without knowing me from Adam - as in no discount for continues insurance, multi-policy discount etc and one of the cheapest was NRMA!!!

So where is the LOVE??? Where is the Loyalty???

I go back to my renewal and look at the "Discounts" I receive and these all add up to over $500 and the amount from the broker was only $100 dearer than my renewal.

SO where is the $400 FRAUD????

Surely leading their current members with renewals like this amount to fraud???

2. Banks:

I bank with ANZ, again have done since I came to AUS, I have Home Loan / Offset Account / 2 Savings Accounts / Credit Card etc all with them.

After closing all these branches and charging for every little thing they can they then send me a note with my statement that they will be now charging me a monthly account keeping fee cos the $Billions they make is not enough - ah but I said I have a home loan with ANZ, but this only entitles me to 1 fee free account which would obviously be my offset account

I rang their "Customer Helpline" - very nice lady, but read from a script and told me to go to a branch to complain and see what they can do. So I enquired when they are open, seeing most of us lead busy lives working 9-5 / Mon-Fri - ah she says ANZ are open on Saturdays, GREAT so I'll go down and do it then. She asks which state to confirm they will be open, so then find in the WHOLE of NSW there is ONE branch open on Saturdays!!!

Again, where is the LOVE??? Where is the Loyalty???

As one of the banks would say "I FEEL BETTER NOW!!!"

I used to work for one (major bank) and the main reason I left was because I couldn't stand the bullcr@p we had to feed to customers.

Put me down as one of the good guys.

Banks and Insurers are all cr@p. just the depth varies.

Three quotes for comprehensive on the 130. Two of them were over $1200. One was $650.

Go figure.

Cheers

Don't go to banks full stop. I've worked for several. I've been a mortgage & finance broker for 5 years, and know all their tricks.
They won't offer you their best deals or even tell you about them, nor how to pay them off early.
On a $350,000 loan you'll probably pay back $870,000:!: Yet they still wanna charge you $8-10 month, this is why they make $4bn per year.

Plug coming - - - If you want a great loan with NO ONGOING FEES - PM me. My services won't cost you or anybody else, anything.

As for Insurance - where do I start? Your broker should be able to get you a much better deal than that.
I had a similar situation. Had everything (2 cars, bike, house) insured with one mob, rating 1 for years, renewal comes in over $100 DEARER. They blamed everything except the chicken virus, said there wasn't anything they could do.
Shopped around got a good deal (until renewal time probably), then they said they'd match it when I went to cancel the policy. No thanks and see you later.
Money talks and b*llsh*t walks. I walked cause of their BS.
Would've stayed with 'em if they looked after me in the first place. :!:

Was what I read in the Courier Mail true? Are the banks going to phase out Bankcard? As Bankcard is my only Credit card and from what I see purchases over the net are only with Credit Card ( they dont seem to want debit cards for some reason) does that mean I have to go to Visa or Amex?

or Mastercard.

There are VISA 'debit' cards available from some banks, too. These cards operate in exactly the same way as any normal credit card but rather than run up a debt they take the money out of an existing account. As far as the merchant is concerned - no difference at all.

Farnakle,

That's affirmative mate. Bankcard is only really an Australian/NZ thing and they've been phasing it out for a few years, as they're not popular, and there is much more of a cost to the banks in running them. (Surprise, suprise).

Amex are a good card, but there are millions of places that don't take them, and they can be a pain in the ass to deal with.

Visa or Mastercard are the go. You can get "debit" Visas if you like, where you have to keep a balance in them, to use them.
