Hi one and all , My 2015 110 has gone in to have an oil leak fixed . There is oil pripping from the bleed hole on the bell housing at the engine end . It looks like the rear main oil seal could be the problem . To say I'm disapointed would be an understatement . The vehicle has only done just under 23,000 ks . Have any of you had this problem ? I'm not happy having my truck stripped down with so few kls It hasn't even got to it's second service yet . Jim

Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear. Mines done 36000 Km’s(2015 110), so far no oil leaks.

I have had 3 new Defender 90s, 2013, 2014 and 2015 each one had the rear engine seal replaced after leaking oil from the bell housing, all at around 3,000ks and 3 months old. The 2013 Defender seal replaced twice. Dealership advised that it was a rare problem.
Really closely inspect your Defender when completed, especially the middle cross member, floor mats around the gear levers and for damage to the dash area also around the gear lever. Had all these replaced as they were damaged as a result of removing the gear box. Other then this cosmetic damage no other problems. Cheers.

Hi thanks for your reply , I've said to the dealer , this isn't a company car , and I intend keeping it of quite a while . Please don't return this back to me unless it's 100% as I don't want to be bringing it back to you with complaints . I can only hope they fix it to a standard I expect . I have been assured that it will be . I hope so up until now they have been very good . Jim

Hey Jim my 2014 Defender went back at around 65000k for this problem. Then again a couple of weeks later because the rear main was leaking again.
They also replaced / greased the output shaft at my request the first time. The second time the clutch was also clunking - new clutch at my expense (because it's consumable) but no labour. The rear main seal seems ok now.
Then the monkeys left the difflock switch unplugged! So I had to take it back again to check that's all it was. ...it's difficult to tell if the CDL is engaging or disengaging without the dash light!
Hopefully that's all, because I'm out of warranty now. Those rear main seals must be a bit tricky to get right?
