I went to Levuka last Saturday, it's a 1000 acre cattle farm/4wd etc park a few ks s/w of Woodenbong or about an hour and a half from Lismore.

The people who run it are very nice and there was more than I could do in the few short hours available.

Lots of tracks and trails from easy to hard, which brings me to a point. Having waded thru a 2 foot deep wet bog hole there was a 'difficulty 5' climb up a short and obviously muddy hill, maybe 50 metres. The dear old Disco did this in high range with ease, not even a wheel spinning. So when does the 'difficulty rating' become difficult in a Landy?

Had a bucket of fun out there, I thought the hill runs were reasonably challenging and the view just perfect.

(funny story: a group of nine Nissans and Toyos followed a team leader in an old and very lifted GQ LWB, which must have been stuck in low range, could here it screaming for miles, or it wasn't going to be stopped by anything, but they didn't try 'the playground' which is a very steep series of creek crossings).

Try it sometime, i liked it, but a bit of a hike even for me.

Cheers. Q

Quiggers,

Funny you pose the Difficult in a Landy?

Most of my Off Road stuff is on the beach and when talking to a guy up the beach he was telling me that the crossings are easy in his Pathfinder when he puts it in Low Range.

He asked me if it was the same in the Disco?

My response - " don't know, I have never put it in Low range on beach work".

So maybe, what is difficult for them is not for us. Or maybe You are a bloody good driver.

Cheers.

ET.

Thanks ET, how's Coolum? been there more than a few times, what's your beach drive? Noosa thru to the ferries to Fraser? done it a few times, a blast!

Love going for a beach run, 30 ks South Ballina to Evans Hd (when it's low tide) is a beauty. Take the mob, the beach gear, go for a swim, a surf and a fish that's fish n chips at Evans Hd. This is a great beach that changes, big and wide at Ballina, lots of Rocks about 20 ks south then on to Evans.

Going from Evans to Ballina is interesting, the track out at South Ballina is a long slow climb up a track which is always very soft and one of the few times i've needed low range. A while back it took three runs because i couldn't be bothered to drop the tyres pressure.

(The Evans Hd access could be done in a Falcon, with a bit of speed).

Catch ya, might do it again soon and take some piccies.
