This vent is looking good. Last round of the series, either Scotty or Jamie can win, only 30 points separating them!
Organizers appear to have done a great job at this location,...great views, spectacular over the harbour etc, and very good crowds,..couldn't be better IMHO,...Roger Penske is there.
Only thing I would say is that the circuit appears to be tight, so the "taxi driving contingent" may have a few words to say as usual. In which regard, quali will be vitally important, and quali for race 1 is only 55mins away,..so I'm EXCITED!....so if ya're interested, & if ya're able,...watch quali at 11.00 am,....should be good.
My prediction?....I reckon Scotty will get pole, but Jamie (I hope!) will win the race.

lots of passing!!!

am I right in saying every single attempt at a (racing) pass brought out a safety car??

BIG supercars fan here, as some would know......and I remain so.
However, for anyone who does not know the history, or the fight, for the current 2017 championship, then I could well understand the term "Taxi Racing",.....because todays race was not the best for me, once Jamie was ruled out......the race for thhe championship was at an end,......don't know if I'm making any sense, but it's just the way I feel at this stage of the championship.
Hopefully tomorrow's race will have "ËXCITEMENT".

whoever gets to the first turn first will win.
Its a horrible track, looks great on TV, but no where to pass.

Not sure what was not fair about it. Wingecup got caught trying a move. Didn't work so no one to balme but himself.

I’m sure McLauchlan would rather win it due to his driving skill - not due to other drivers mechanical issues....

They do need to toughen the cars up a bit. Too many out with bent or broken steering after relatively minor knocks.
Bring back the days when they would finish races with the steering wheel 45deg off centre.
1 small knock from a rival and someone's race and even championship is over.

Totally agree but does not make it unfair. It will make today's race very " strategic ' though.

IMHO, there are two aspects to Scotty's winning, .....(a)his skill as a driver, (b)very well engineered, fast car.

and what more do you need?

Luck.

nowhere to be seen today. some bits of luck were his fault, some were'nt. but in the end he ran out of car.
Not surprising really.

Dont anybody say its a great track.
Its beautiful to watch on telly(who'd a thunk?)
but it produces terrible racing. (not TV...) might as well put train tracks around the course.

Nope.
If ya watched todays "unbelieveable" racing incidents, and what can happen in any Supercars race, there's a lot more than "train tracks".
An unblelieveable result.
Me?..big fan of Jamie, so glad he won, BUT, do I believe or agree with the penalty Scotty incurred re the Lowndes incident?...NO, I do not, but as they say,....."That's Racing".
Roll on 2018.

I don’t watch the V8s much, agree it was an exciting finish to decide the champion but what Scotty did to Lowndes was disgraceful.....he made a mistake at the corner and deliberately put Lowndes into the fence. With or without side mirror Scott knew he was there.

I think there is too much crash and bash showing the inability to drive......

A GREAT W.E. of racing IMHO,....and apart from the racing, I reckon that Newcastle would have to be super happy with the "exposure" they got,...I had no idea it was such a picturesque location, so really good for tourism, and nearly 200,000 people there over the 3 days, so Supercars would be happy too,.....obviously a massive amount of planning to get this off the ground.
The track?...yes, when I saw it, I thought jeez, that's a bit narrow, and yes, there were a couple of occasions when at the times there wasn't much action, and I thought to myself that the "taxi racing" brigade would be happy. But like I've said before, to see the cars get out for 1st practice, then the 2nd, getting "tuned up", getting the lap times down for quali, the T.T. Shootout etc, is all part of it for me. I also enjoyed seeing Steve Johnson win the Muscle Car race, and the Series, in the Mustang,...what a great race that was.
A great "come from behind" by Jamie, but devastation for Scottie, and another terrible W.E. for Walkinshaw Racing who will have no room for excuses next year...bring on 2018!!
Pickles.
Weeds,..."Crash & Bash"?...I'm not too keen on that side of things either, so I'm with you on that one, but the majority of fans don't seem to have an issue with it?

Yea agree the fans like crash and bash and it creates controversy, interest, opinions
