Hi Every One,

I have been trying to find a supply of the light green camouflage paint without any success. It seems it is an old colour made before Protec had the contract to supply. That's about as far as I have got although Protec are willing to try to match it now.

Just wondering if anyone has had it matched or has any idea of a product code, supplier or any history of the use of the colour.

Thanks

Ian.

It has been discussed many times before. It is actually the olive drab (camouflage green) that has faded over the years.

Same colour but supplied by different manufacturers throughout the years. They all fade to different colours because of the different chemical composition of the paints from different makers. This is what I understood from the main thread that was started about this topic.

Ian, there is no "light green" "camo" paint, if you choose a non-obvious location on your vehicle's green and either polish it, wet it with oil/lanolin, or rub it back a little you'll find that it really is the "drab olive" camo colour.

This colour naturally fades to your lighter shade if dried and left in the sun longterm :)

Vehicles that retain the "drab olive" colour in their camouflage have either been stored under cover or are more recent paint jobs.

As a practical camouflage finish the faded lighter shade works quite well in the field. Sure, it would be possible to match it, but the next time it rains any so repainted section is going to have a different shade.

Please note the published health cautions about abrading/sanding this type of paint.

I think it’s just faded auscam green.

Thanks for all your help.

I gave it a good looking over and yes it seems it is just the faded drab olive of the day. Very different to my Son's Stage 1 though which was painted in Protec Drab Olive about ten years ago. It has faded to a greyish colour whereas mine has faded to a fairly bright green especially when it's wet. I get that if I try to match it then it will show a different colour to the existing green when it's wet. Pity cos I really like the existing green. I am attaching a towbar and the paint on the Rear Crossmember and Gerry Can Holders has pretty well had it so have stripped it all off. I guess it's going to have a bright green front and a 342-1166-23 rear end for a while.

Ian.
That's the new camo green.
