https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2017/12/121.jpg

Tomorrow:

To do in the next 2 weeks:

then it’s off camping and 4wding down south (Honeymoon Pool and Lennard Track)

Can’t wait!

Nice looking D4 Brian. I like that colour.

I got the same pioneer platform on my car but with the backbone system. Allows it to sit a lot lower. Plenty of room to put stuff up there non the less.

The split tailgate I think is awesome for when your out camping.

Those kings LED's sure light up the road nicely, for the price you can't beat them. I've had a set on my work car for over a year with no dramas.

You do all the wiring yourself?

Cheer, Frank.

Hi Frank

No mate I got a sparky to do the wiring. Call it “delegation” 🤣

Re spots dead right the kings products are amazing value for money. Next up I’ll be putting the “Godfather” lightbar up top

While I love the look of the backbone I decided against them for 2 reasons :
- the racks I installed are quick release and the whole platform literally comes off in under a minute
- I heard some reports that the backbone was noisy - can’t confirm this first hand - not because of the design but because they place the platform so low to the roofline creating a Venturi effect when the rammed air is forced from the low roof section up to the raised roof section... dunno if this is fact or fiction but it made sense to me

Need to get some Rhino accessories now for Maxtrax, shovel, tie-down points etc but heck are they pricey!!

I’m thinking about converting from my Kings spotlight setup (identical to yours) to a 40”+ lightbar up top for neatness. While the kings 9” are great, they aren’t the prettiest in this setup, with a light bar being more discrete and likely enough light (though not sure).

Make your own for Maxtrax. As an example, what I've done is summarised in my thread (post#17) > Scott's Discovery 4 (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/members-rides/225222-scotts-discovery-4-a-2.html)

I have a 40" lightbar that was on the rack of my D1, it throws more than enough light for my needs. I also have a pair of IPF 8000's with HID upgrade and still in 2 minds if i will mount them to my bar or not.
Might just do a test fit and see how they go.

Ok so here are some photos and updates for those interested

First up the UHF. The RJ45 socket in the console is a Lightforce unit. The radio body is installed in the centre console

The antenna is a 6.6db GME unit installed on a stainless bracket sold by Autospark Osborne Park

Next up is the ARB compressor mounted in front of the driver in the spare battery box. Note how the air line is routed from the compressor to the side of the box via a custom plate. The compressor switch (metal) is just below the air fitting. The relays you can see are for the front spots and roof LED light bar (pending)

The boys fromGreenwood Autospark I stalled the compressor and UHF. Extremely happy with the install.

I received a couple of queries regarding my spot brackets so here’s a pic. Bracket supplied and fitted by Autospark Osborne Park.

Last up are some pics of the protective plates and sliders from APT. Not real happy with the fitment of the front plate and I’ve noticed it is a slightly different (sectioned) design so I’ll have e to ask Tim about that... installed by Wilf Chambers JLR in Perth

Couldnt get pics of the sump and transmission plates and I’m yet to transplant my GOE compressor plate over.

Anyway tired of typing now! Enjoy.
