View Full Version : A/C compressor bearing noise.

I have noticed a slight rumble coming from my A/C compressor when it is running.
I did the old screwdriver to the ear test and it sounds pretty good when not engaged, but when the compressor kicks in, so does the rumble. It's not bad, but it is there.
Otherwise the A/C seems to be working very well, (aside from a solar sensor fault that only seems to appear on very hot days).
I've been having a look around for info on this, I'm suspecting the bearing, which does not look too hard to replace.
Has anyone done this job? I'd be interested to hear your experiences.
Cheers, Pete.

Get a real good set of inside circlip pliers , and dont drop the washer, it always lands under the radiator and is a pain to fish out ,,

Does anyone know what bearing fits the P38 A/C? Mine is a Thor 2001, 4.6 HSE.
Cheers, Pete.
