I'll start...

This morning at the Woolies check out I was behind an old lady in the queue. Her bill came to $56.83 but when she counted out all of her change and she only had just under $10 I thought she was probably someone’s Nan and I’d like to think someone would have helped my Nan out when she was alive. She didn’t want me to help her but I insisted, and in no time at all we had all her shopping back on the shelves.

I was in a similar situation a few months back while I was waiting at the checkout at the supermarket.
There was this old bloke that had emptied his wallet out and was about $15 short for his groceries and he was looking pretty flustered and embarrassed by the situation So I took out a $20 note and pretended to pick it up off the floor and said to him that he must have dropped it.
I think that He and the check out lady knew exactly what I was doing But it allowed Him to get out of this embarrassing situation with his pride still intact [thumbsupbig]
I am certain that if I had simply offered to pay for his shortfall he would have refused the offer, Like as said above this was most likely someone's Grandfather or Pop and it was only a lousy $20.

We have been having problems with a small mob of Shetland ponies that have gone "Feral" on the neighbours property smashing through fences and generally being a PITA about the place.
Yesterday I had to muster them out of the paddock that we keep our horse in which put the D2a through it's paces for a good half hour and it necessitated straightening up the spotties where I gave one of them a playful "Nudge" with the bullbar to install a modicum of respect in the animal.
I did however purposely leave my rifle behind So none of them got a Bullet which they richly deserve [bigwhistle]

Even when your son is School Captain?

All my kid are way beyond school age now and none of them were well behaved enough to become a school captain.
I do got to some of the grandkids (We have 17 of them) sports events But the assembly type stuff just leaves me Cold.

Amen to that. The next school doesn't believe in school captains.

Yes I am a do gooder too - an old lady had fallen over while out on a walk and had cracked her head - a lot of people milling around and one had called an ambulance but the old lady cancelled it - I was the only one with a car - she wouldn't have an ambulance, wouldn't go to emergency but I convinced her to go in my car to the local walk in doctors - we went there got her checked over and bandaged up and went back to the counter - she had no money so I had to spring the $90 - through one of her neighbours I found out she does not remember the incident or going to the doctors - good bye $90 - cannot even claim it back on Medicare as the account is in the old ladies name.

I suppose I can go and bang on her door and demand payment but I wouldn't feel right.

Oh well - the cost of being a do gooder.

That's like the time a guy ran out of petrol outside my house.
I gave him my spare fuel can full which he promised to refill and return it.
Last I ever saw of him.....[bigsad]

In what way? Vlad offered to help, the lady didn't want it and the stuff went back on the shelves - the second bit is not all that important, the important bit was that the offer was made in the first place not that the offer of help could not be fulfilled.

I realize the OP was a bit ironic.

I've been hand feeding two orphaned baby bats, so that's a good deed. The mothers were electrocuted.
Fill their stomachs full of warm milk and they curl up, close their eyes and go to sleep - just like me. [emoji16]

Today I hit a poor lady in the car park.
At least I assume she was poor, she only had $5 on her....

I helped the youngster from the local pizza place get his bicycle going again, as while raking leaves on my front lawn late this evening I noticed him working on his bike and must have rang his boss who turned up and had a go to no avail. I thought this must be serious, so I got some tools and a torch and went over and found the chain had come off, got it back on and tightened the axle up as it was loose, hands got covered in grease, at least the kid had his pizza making gloves on. I suspect the chain came off as the cable is stretched so pushes the chain too far in the lowest gear, the bike stand was also loose, so the whole episode is probably due to poor maintenance, and lack of knowledge on how to get the chain back on.

To make matters worse, he was on a return trip so I didn't even get a cold pizza!

Does it still count if you get someone else to do it? Earlier this afternoon I noticed that debris that I thought was from the weekend storm was actually the headlight and associated bits from a car, so I rang the council and they had it cleaned up within a couple of hours.

It's amazing how self absorbed some people can be as dozens would've walked and driven past it and two houses face the area, but no one seemed to have made a call.

I must be due a Gold star or worse as no good deed goes unpunished. Yesterday I noticed a council tree branch had blown across one lane of traffic in my street, so I dragged it to the side and kicked a lot of broken bits off the road. Later at the North Lakes club I found a tap running in the gent's and managed to get under the basin to turn it off and notified the barman, who was appreciative.

I use the Snap Send Solve app,it is great.

Dead wallaby on our footpath the other day,Snap a pic,the app knows your location and sends the pic to the appropriate council.
Very easy. And the council actually sent me back a message saying they would have it gone the same day.

I used it also for the numerous Fire Ant nests down at the local park.
No response yet.
Illegally parked vehicles at our shed,on the footpath, blocking half our driveway, same, snap a pic, send it away, usually same day a parking officer is around.

At an auction today. Checking the invoice after I paid it against my list of my successful bids, found they had missed one, so went back and stood in a queue for ten minutes to get it corrected and pay the extra ($5).

Thanks for the app info, I have been using it the last few days Brisbane Council took 3 days to even look at my reports Lime scooters were very quick to reply but no proof the job was done, and the fire ant people took about 36 hours but at least it shows the report has been viewed whereas the others didn't. It is easy to use though, a nice one stop shop.

I am surprised how well it works.

The fire ant people sent me a message, basically saying they have got the notification, and a reference number, whatever that means.
Their nests seem to appear more after the rain, there are heaps of them down at the local footy fields.
I was thinking what about a good sniffer dog, surely one would be pretty efficient at finding the nests?

When we are at Arrawarra,it just automatically changes to the local council, which is Coffs, and works seamlessly.
Amazing.

As for a good deed,i noticed the local mechanic left some parts off the invoice for a service for one of our vans,i called him and he thanked me for notifying him of the error.A small guy who works for himself, and does a great job.
