Following on from the theme of towing a camper trailer to Adelaide and the long way home, then staying in motels every night; this weekend sees us taking a boat to Charleville! [bighmmm]

Perhaps the pods are for storing the Chateau Cardboard Port for attracting the local maidens? Ian being an old truckie.

Ian, the early explorers took boats to the outback in the hope of discovering the theorized inland sea. Possibly handy in Charleville with the town's history of flooding. The wet season is imminent.

From the rego label, Whittley Voyager. I know no more than it belongs to friends of 'ers, who are relocating to Charleville.
She agreed to help them, during the week. I had intentions of going 4x4ing with friends, but they've all let me down. [bawl]
Decades of wisdom has taught me, it's better to appease than oppose, so Charleville, here I come. [bigsad]

Bjorn, some of that port might go down well, on the shores of the inland sea. :twobeers:

I must go down to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky,
I hung my undies out yesterday, by now they must be dry.

Sorry Mr. Masefield. [biggrin]

Looking at the window, its certainly got the very distinguishable "Whittley window" happening. Great boats to look at I reckon, and they make for great overnight/weekenders with all the gear they pack into them. That looks to not be a weekender version though, which when I was looking at them, I couldn't find one, only the fully decked out versions, which were just out of my price range [bigsad].

You could always drop it off at Albury if you like Ian,,, I'll put it to good use on the Hume and Dartmouth dams when I'm up there [bigwhistle] .

May as well Marcus, I don't see it being worn out where it's going. Charleville is either as dry as a toasted Sao or flooded, no in between.

Since you posted this thread I checked Charleville's rainfall figures on the Elders Weather site and they have had 194.8mm for the year to date.
The long term average is an extra 300mm over that, at 495.7, and last year they had received 776.9 up to the present date.
Currently very dry times indeed and I don't think that boat is going to get worn out in hurry.

Allegedly a forum member worked on the construction of this weir,

but he isn't mentioned in dispatches.

When was it built John, early '50s? [wink11]

I can just see that blue D4 with that window in the back, Marcus. Maybe I should tell Leeanne to hide the angle grinder....?

Ahh,, but no need to adjust the car if one owns the boat,,

Damn, if I was to alter the car, I'd be like those wanks that put Chev badges on Holdens [bigwhistle] No thanks, just get what you want in the first place [bigrolf][bigrolf]

Often wondered if, in the US, the wanks put Holden badges on the imported Chevrolet SS....
