Good evening gents . I bought a 2011 rrs 3.0 tdi which came with 275 40 20 I am going to replace the tyre soon as it’s worn .
Question is I can’t decide on what size to get ? I want higher profile tyres if I can . Looking at 255 55 20 not sure how they fit ? Can some one point me into the right direction? Or maybe a another size suggestion ?

Cheers .

Hi Wilin88,
If you go to a tyre size comparison web site there are plenty to choose from ( Tire Size Calculator (https://tiresize.com/calculator/) ) this is the link for the one I use, this lets you figure out all the critical dimensions. From what I can see the tyre size you suggest is 25mm bigger in diameter than the 19 inch ones I presently have on my RRS. personally I prefer to stick to the more commercial tyre sizes purely for the ride quality and cost reasons. I have picked up two sets (5) of 19 inch RRS V8 rims for $400 and $500 respectively with near new tyres on them all. Certainly beats the $350 / $400 I was quoted to replace the 20 inch tyres alone.

The bigger the side wall the better the ride, I sold my 20 inch rims and went back to 19's, no regrets here. I can't see the tyre size you suggest being a problem based on looking at my 19 inch rims and tyres which are 25mm less in diameter 12 mm in radius.

Cheers Marty

The Nitto's are good, i have had them for about 20,000K's and they seem to be wearing well. Shredded one new Marla late last year while towing on a rockie road, not happy!!!!
