80 inch, 24 years later..

24 years ago, this landy was driven into a shed. Christmas eve saw her fire up again for a few laps around the paddock. I happened to pick the two hottest days ever for standing around in a Beenleigh paddock! But it was well worthwhile hearing that motor start again. Thanks to Harry and Carolyn for wheels to get her rolling, and the fortunate timing of a neighbouring farmer's tractor nearby to drag her out of the "barn". We soaked the cylinders for a day, wired up a fresh starter circuit to kick over and bodgied up gravity feed fuel as the fuel pump diaphragm was cactus. Next step will be to bring her closer to home and then hoping to get back on the road this year.

Car no is R06102772 and engine is 57107649. Chassis number wasn't where it should be, will investigate later..

He's got plans for the furgie - it'll be re-shod and getting a tune-up soon. Apparently it was rebuilt before being parked there so it shouldn't take much to go again. They sure looked great together :)

Had to reply to this one. Here for your enjoyment is my '53 and stable companion. The TEA20 runs but it's better when cold, would you believe. Once the engine has warmed up and the oil loses its viscosity, oil pressure drops very low and compression with it. And you can't put much weight on the carryall before the front wheels start lifting.
The '53 I bought in 1977. It needed a new head gasket and an exhaust valve to get it running satisfactorily. For good measure I threw in a new set of plugs and points. New brushes in the dynamo got it working again, ditto the starter. In 1988 my wife and I drove it to Cooma for the LR Gathering.
We went from Yarra Valley to NE Vic, crossed the Murray between Corryong and Khancoban, stayed the next night at Jindabyne, and sailed into Cooma early the following day. Second pic is on our return journey. She still runs like a swiss watch.
