View Full Version : GPS Options with a flip out media system

In my D2 I have a reasonable single DIN flip up media system. In the interests of reducing some of the clutter on/above the dash, I've been cogitating, as I have the said media flip-up (soft touch screen), TPMS, a Mudpod console with various gauges, an old TomTom GPS which I still like for its ease of use for other than off road, and for bush work a normally not fitted and possibly about to be replaced Hema 5, along with my CB on the far right A pillar. My Nanocom sits below attached to the coin box/ashtray.

To date, I don't recall ever seeing a GPS system that could be hidden away and projected onto the media screen. I guess the limitations would be the capability of my system, plus a new thought, ie whilst using such a projection, it would probably mean not being able to listen to the radio, CD, USB etc?

Any thoughts?

As soon as I pressed the submit button, I knew you were going to ask that.
Pioneer AVH-X7550BT. Not a bad unit apart from a woeful AM reception, even with a dedicated separate aerial.

You could upgrade to a AVH-Z7050BT which has apple car play and android auto, then use your phone’s nav functions, instead.

AVH-Z7050BT - Pioneer (https://www.pioneer.com.au/shop/car/avh-z7050bt/)

Will the AVIC-U260 connect to your head unit?

Looks like it, but too expensive for what it does, and the sites I accessed don't say anything about an AU version/service. Cheers
