Hi All,

1990 Range Rover Classic - 3.9 EFI auto, petrol (not running on gas)

What fluids are people running?
Engine Oil? (20w/50) or (15w/50)? or...?
Power Steering Fluid?
Transmission Fluid?

Cheers,
GG.

I use Penrite HPR30 in my engine as it has the all-important zinc stuff needed for flat-tappet engines. (You might like to research it, but basically zinc was removed from engine oils and modern engines don't need it, but our older motors with flat-bottomed lifters do.)

Check your manual, (or find one online), but mine uses Dexron III ATF in the power steering. I can't remember what an automatic uses but a search here will help.

Mine's an '86 Mick, just running the later 3.9 EFI.

GG has landed something else...

Transmission should just take Dextron III, transfer case will a a Borg Warner unit with viscous coupling which takes Dextron III as well. Engine oil will be a personal choice, everyone will have a different oppinion here, but Davo's advice is logical so that's a good start IMO.

Like Davo, I run the Penrite HPR30 20w 60 mineral oil in all my V8s.
