I went to get a quote for window tinting and the people said that the metalised tint (which is all the good ones) interferes with radio reception especially on AM stations and sometimes on FM.

They said it was because the aerials are in the back windows which you can see. They said that they would have to do the back ones in the crappy plastic tint and it will look a bit different.

Has anyone had a metalised tint put on the rear windows and does it effect the reception? I would not want to loose FM. AM is not such a problem as I just dont listen to any of the stations.

Cheers,
Charlie

Charlie,

Don't use metalised tint, it will also stuff up your remote locking. The antenna for that is also in the rear side window.

There are good quaility non metal tints available.

Hi Charlie,

I had Tint Mart do the Disco about 4 months ago with their Black Pearl film, and so far no issues and good looking and performing tint with lifetime warranty, whatever that is worth

The disco also has the radio arial in the side window and there has been no problems with reception of FM or AM stations.
