So after a blow out on the rear at 110ks per hour I put the muddies off my mil spec series 3 on the range rover rims.
Im going to have to put in a 2 inch suspension lift to stop the rubbing under compresion, question is this.

With the suspension lift blocks under the springs, do I need to grab longer shocks? This red rangie is not going to be my long term car but I want to stop the rubbing on the cheap so 2 inch is sufficient.

And yes its a bit saggy in the butt so id say the springs are well done, as are bushes and rubbers, but this is a temporary ride as i get the "hang over" up and running and lifted properly with new springs and so on.

Any thoughts?

I you're just going 2" then you can get away with standard shocks I believe but better to do the whole lot as a package, and even not bother with caster correction bushes, but if you're replacing them anyway, it won't hurt.

Even easier is to stick the front springs in the back and get some new fronts.

Arse about.
Rear springs to front and get new rears.
What size are the muddies?
if they are 245.75x16 you need to grind down the bolt that sticks out at 12 oclock in the wheel arch and then grind about 50% off the door flange where it is curved.
Any bigger and more is needed like a Camel cut.

2inch lift the stock shocks are OK. If you put on longer shocks you have to put longer bump stops on, or shift the position of the upper or lower mount to accommodate the compressed length of the shock plus about 50% of the bump stop compression.
Seeing it is that saggy the Nivomat is also stuffed

I knew it was one way or another... 😆

Thanks for the correction. 👍

How does it drive? I would have thought it would really suck with those tyres on as now it is quite overgeared (Even simple tings like a hill start with a trailer/caravan on).

If I owned a 101 as an offroad vehicle. I'd try and get the rangey as good as possible to be a standard tourer ... that rides really nicely both offroad and onroad (rather than be more offroad biased).

Everyones requirements are different though. You may need the extra offroad ability :)
