So the ONLY thing that I miss from my D4V8 (apart from the exhaust note) are the bloody arm rests

I’ve had no luck searching ... does anyone know of these are retro-fittable without pulling apart the whole seat?

Hi Oldsalt. Do you have side airbags in those seats. I am wanting to upgrade the seats in my 2014 poverty pack but was not aware that I could actually do that because of the airbags. My wife complains about the lack of lumbar support in the passengers seat. Arm rests would be great to have as well? If they do have air bags may I ask what they are worth and what the seat model is? Many thanks.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but unless your original seats did not have airbags, then you can't replace them with non airbag seats.
Ask me how I know!!!!!
If you have found compatible airbag seats, with armrests, then I would love to know because I would love a set.

Should be a straight swap to the rails.

Likewise didn't some Discovery models have arm rests - why not put them in with your current seat covers put on so they then match the rest of your interior.

My RRS has the arm rests and I never use them - not comfortable, in not the best position even though that are adjustable - just more hassle than they are worth - the cubby lid is a far better arm rest.

HSE spec have arm rests so should be able to source a pair from a wrecker.

A dude around the corner from me fitted arm rests to his D4 not long ago. From memory they were out of a classic (could be wrong) and he had them re-covered to match the existing seats.

I’m betting he also did it to his D3 as well.

Thanks for that sad news, was just going out later today to start looking at the various models etc... I'll check if they do an air bag model otherwise it's back to the drawing board... damn....the standard seats are pretty crappy IMHO (despite what a lot pf people say)... the seats in my wife's Audi Q5 are great for long trips...great lumbar support.

cheers

I reckon this is the best option.
I've checked with Triumph Rover Spares here in Adelaide and they believe you need to change the ccf to update the car to electric seats, and then is your nieces nephews cousin (or Bobs your uncle!)
Black seat with armrest - $650.
No, I'm not associated with them, but as they are less than 10km from home, they are part of my Land Rover life!!!!!

I have an HSE D4 and find the same thing. For me they get in the way of the seat belt connection on short trips so I leave them up. Only ever use them on long journeys but still find them too narrow. I saw center console cubby arm rests when I was looking for a replacement arm as mine drops back now into the rear passenger space. Given the outrageous price I've decided to live with it. Replacement was refused under extended warranty as the seats etc are classed as trim and not covered.

If you haven't already done so see if you can find someone with them fitted and try them out first.

I find the HSE captains chairs with arm rests to be one of the best things about either our D3 or D4. Having driven and been passenger in other spec Disco's without arm rests there is no way I would go back to the basic seat model without all the electric adjustments.
We drive long distances on a regular basis and the captains chairs with their arm rests make a huge difference to comfort levels and how fresh you feel at the end of a long day of driving.

Recaro do make seats with air bags available, is there any reason these cannot be fitted to a D4. In the past I had Recaro seats in a previous 4x4 that had side airbags in the seats, the Recaro seats that I already had were fitted and a resistor fitted into the airbag wiring to trick the system. Worked well for me, I refitted the original seats to the car when I sold it. The first person who looked at it bought it, could not believe how good the interior looked.
Anyway I think that it can be done but will most likely cost $$$$$$$$ from previous experience.
Cheers

Well, I reckon they’re ok, but the second row seats are another story - horrible place to be in a D4

When I was recently looking for a replacement arm for my seat I came across 2nd hand seats for the D4 for sale in Australia. They were at a wreckers from memory but I can't remember the site unfortunately but they are/were available.

I have a 2012 SE D4 that came standard with basic electric seats and the folding armrests. It was one of the last shipload of the 6 speed autos. After I drove a new Range Rover Sport I would love to have those seats instead. Good luck in your quest.
