Hi all , I'm hoping someone may be able to help With a problem I have with my perentie ?

traveling along it will sometimes make a load whirring noise , It did it when I first bought it but stopped for a while , It came back today worse , The mechanic thinks it's the clutch release bearing , I'm getting a new clutch put in next week , The clutch slipped going up a very steep hill the other day .Not sure if it's linked or not , When the noise happens , If I take up the free play in the clutch the noise stops , Then if I take my foot off it comes back , but if I put the clutch to the floor , Sometimes it won't come back for a while , The free play in the clutch is also larger , Which is strange , So when there isn't any noise not much free play , when there is the noise , There's about an inch to inch and a half . It only seems to happen in gear ...But I didn't test that to much ... Its now off the road until I get the new clutch , release bearing and spigot bush ,
Do you think one of these will fix the problem or could it be something else ...I really don't want the gearbox out twice .

I figure I may as well replace the master and slave cylinders at the same time , Just so there done

Any ideas ? Thanks

Get your mechanic to check if the clutch fork pivot post is loose in the bellhousing when he changes the clutch. That will give those symptoms as the clutch fork can float back and forwards and explain the pedal height differences. If it is loose the hole will probably be sloppy so loctite it in or modify the post with an extension and locknut or drill and put a roll pin through it. And yes change both master and slave with the new clutch
