I just saw this, I'm in Singleton and can do it if you are still chasing it.

Thanks very much for that, the auction just ended for the second time without a bid so I might contact the seller with an offer, I'll let you know if I go ahead.
Thanks again
Pete

Bought the radio, Jason is collecting from the seller for me- if anyone heads towards Vic from near or through Singleton and might have some room I'd be super keen to hear from you.

Depends how much of a rush you're in. I live in Maitland 45 mins from Singleton, and am going to SA, through Mildura OR that vicinity (more than Likely) at the end of April.

Thanks for that, I'll be happy if I can get hold of it by about June, although I can't speak for how long Jason is happy to have it taking up his space. If it can make it's way slowly south I'll be very happy.

Just had a look on the map to see where Druin East is, not near Mildura at all. we might be able to get it to Wagga. Talking about going that way or anywhere between there and mildura if you know someone.

Hello from Brisbane.

Not sure if you got this sorted out already but I could possibly help get it part of the way. Especially if the aerial will fit in the boot of a Volvo XC60 with the back seat up, or across the back passenger floor without digging into the door liners.

I am likely to be going through Singleton on my way to the 70th bash in Cooma on the Thursday before Good Friday. There will be a lot of Victorians heading up and back to Cooma via the Gippsland - so, someone doing that could probably take it over and drop it off as they come through the region.

My number is 0419715234.

Cheers,

Neil

Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't reply to this- my subscription had expired (thought I had auto-renew but no). Thank you Neil, I'd be stoked if this could work, wonder if anyone from down this way will be at Cooma? I'm working over Easter myself. Might be best if I post another thread to catch the attention of Cooma attendees.

Hello from Brisbane.

Looks like my offer in the other thread of the same topic is going ahead.

My present plans are to leave Brisbane on Wednesday morning and overnight at the pub in Nundle (great spot). Then head to Sydney or Bathurst the following morning - either way I will go through Singleton some time late Thursday morning.

The family settled in that part of the world in the mid-1800’s (Lake St Clair sits on top of the family farm of the same name). So, I am reasonably familiar with the place other than the new coal era subdivisions.

Anyway, let me know the pick up details in due course.

Cheers,

Neil

Hello again from Brisbane.

Just a gentle reminder that the earlier question about the antenna length is still relevant. My Volvo is not fitted with roof bars and I won’t be bringing a trailer to Cooma.

Back in the day when my job involved a lot of arid land travel my work trucks were all fitted with Codan radios and the big blue antenna - sufficiently common for the term ‘blue sticks’ to carry a moderately derogatory connotation for ‘government men’, not much changed from Henry Lawson’s day.

Those aerials were not the self tuning types and probably wouldn’t fit inside an XC60 even with the back seat down. Not sure what antenna is being fit to a self tuning kit these days and specifically how long the longest part of the one that you have bought is. Come the worst, I can try to run it along side the doors protruding into the passenger footwell - but ideally would prefer not to.

Cheers,

Neil

Jason,

Hello and thanks.

I am pretty sure that I can get it to the first stage in Cooma for getting it to Peter, but it as well to know what am I dealing with before we get too far down the track.

If the antenna easily comes to bits without damaging it - what is the longest bit?

Cheers,

Neil

Hey Neil,

The antenna is already apart in two bits. The base is 850mm and the whip 1600mm.

Jason,

Hello again and thanks.

There won’t be any trouble fitting those bits in the wagon with or without one of the rear half seats adjusted.

Just need to know where the pick up point will be for the Thursday that I come through from
Nundle. PM or text me the details please and we can sort out a time.

Neil

Jason,

Hello again from Brisbane.

I have changed my travel plans a bit to try to help another local SLOw member get a Perentie seat from Sydney to Cooma.

Basically, I will now come on to Singleton and stay over on the Wednesday evening rather than overnighting at Nundle. This will allow me to get an earlier start to Sydney on Thursday morning to try to avoid the pre-Easter traffic.

Would it be possible to collect the radio and antenna on the Wednesday evening/night or very early on Thursday morning? I also need the pick up address or could we arrange to make the handover at the Caledonian Hotel in George St? For better or worse that’s where I will be staying......

Cheers,

Neil

Hope to pick up the radio on Wednesday evening and get on the road early myself. May well take the Putty Rd or go via Broke - haven’t done either for many years. Final route to Canberra will depend a bit on whether or not I will be picking up a Perentie seat in Minto.

Anyway, I will somewhere around Singleton on Wednesday night.

Cheers,

Neil

Yes please Chris!! That would be fantastic if you're able to meet up with Neil and take it off his hands. I'll be able to come and get it off you whenever suits, Narre is pretty much on my way to & from work., and not that far from home if my shift commutes don't end up suiting you.

Thanks again

Hello again.

Yes, had a pleasant catch up with Jason earlier this evening and have the bits and boxes in hand.

Also have a beer in hand - courtesy of the Caledonian hotel in town. Used to drop in here on the way back from the cattle sales twenty or so years ago. Has a few memories from then.

Will be in Cooma Friday morning to hand it all over to the next carrier.

Cheers,

Neil
