Hi All,

I'm after a good spot to go trout fishing in NSW not too far from Sydney (2-3 hrs out). In a prefect world I could take a dog with me and just camp up in a swag. I'll be in my trusty 110 so a bit of 4wd is good (preferred even). Plan is to take a spinning kit and a fly rod.

I probably wont be going until it cools off a bit too.

Lake Lyell near Lithgow is a good spot. Not sure about dogs but good access to the shore is available.

If you want a day trip Thompsons Creek Dam near Wallerawang is a great spot. Some massive trout can be spun up from the dam wall or fly fishing from the shore is very productive. You can't drive right up to the dam but it is a 20 minute walk up from the carpark

Oberon Dam is another good spot and only a couple of hours out of Sydney
