At least with a 6x6, there'll be plenty of room for batteries! :lol2::lol2:

That was my first thought! Looks like an interesting project.

Batteries are coming down in price fast. My LiFePo4 cost Au$222 each (plus delivery) for 200Ah cells , Can now get 265Ah for $180 each (plus delivery), . That makes a huge difference & makes a conversion really affordable.

Do we know any details of the conversion at all? Motor size, anticipated battery size, etc?

If someone if following him on Facebook, ask them if they can start a thread here. [smilebigeye]

Do you have more info on these batteries at this price?
Are they 12v?
Where do I get some?

TIA

They are not 12V, LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells are 3.2Volts each.

You can however Buy 12V Lithium batteries but its not an economical way of buying a battery as they have 4 x 3.2V cells inside another case ,( Or a combination of banks of Smaller parallel cells in series. )

This is a single 3.2V LiFePo4 'prismatic' cell 200Ah x3C = 600 Amp discharge , $222 each , 12 months ago x 46 plus delivery set me back AU $10,500 .

Best value is to buy direct from China,

eg

3.2v prismatic LiFePO4 lithium ion iron phosphate solar battery cells manufacturer (http://www.lithmbattery.com/3-2-volt-rechargeable-lifepo4-solar-battery-cells-and-lithium-ion-iron-phosphate-solar-battery-supplies.html?fbclid=IwAR3-hI7qZ4SWYMWdmsG7Vjp6glfHDbA9ttzLcL0-ez7WMyUoQDJfuC_279g)

How many of those batteries would you need to compete with a tesla 100kwh battery pack?

How many of those batteries would you need to compete with a tesla 100kwh battery pack?

The 45 x 200ah cells I have fitted in my Landy = 3.2v x 45 = 144V x 200Ah = 28.8kwh . = 250kg

Hypothetically, 28.8 x 3.5 = 100.8kwh = ~ 157 cells @ $200 each = $31.700 = 875kg , 100kwh would give my Landy 280km range , not taking the extra 625kg into account , but would certainly take me over GVM.

(Tesla batteries have denser power per weight & about half the price. )

It would be much cheaper to buy individual Tesla style 18650 cells and make holders / brackets enclosures for them, spot weld the connectors / but my minor form of ADD I could not bear the thought of assembling around 3000 cells .

Pretty sure the telsla cars have around 7000 cells in them. I am currently disassembling charging and discharging around 1500 used 18650 cells to build my own Powerwall for the house. I am promise you it's not an exciting project after the first few hundred.....

I think the only thing cooler than this build would be an EV 101.

Yes Tesla have around 7000 cells but around 3000 would be enough for my Landy.
That power wall project sounds cool, tedious but I'm sure will be very rewarding . What are you doing as far as a BMS ?
