if the wheel track on a D2 is 4 inches wider than a D1,,,

is the distance from mirror tip to mirror tip
wider too??

Not necessarily. It just means the wheel sit further out than on the D1.

D2 track Front 1540mm, Rear 1560mm
D2 width excluding mirrors is 1885mm
