Hello all, I don't seem to be able to jack my D4 high enough to change the back wheel, it is on a mild uphill gradient. Is there a trick with the height adjusting switch?

Keep the car at normal height with doors closed, engine off and it will self adjust allowing you to lift easier.
Don't use the standard jack as it's junk. They have collapsed on people.

Lock the suspension in access mode before you start has woirked for me.
However, the manual suggests you should put it at offroad height and leave the drivers door open.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but you should be jacking the vehicle on a level surface. Even a slight incline like a suburban driveway is enough for the car to roll off the jack.
I use a 2t trolley jack and axle stands at home, much better than the LR jack. Found the LR jack is ok for emergency tyre changes, but I do not trust it if I had to change a wheel in the Bush.
If you don’t have axle stands, put the wheel you have taken off under the car, just in case.

How do I "Lock the suspension in access mode" ?

Hold the suspension down button , it goes to it's lowest level and then tells you its locked there if you keep holding.
